Gettleman; "Me and Greg Jennings sort of kicked the tires and discussed if he would be a good fit."

Per Charlotte Observer http://blogs.charlotte.com/panthers/2015/03/alan-ball-panthers-bears-free-agency-nfl.html

"For both of them, the fit is really important. So we kicked the tires on each other, that's what we did."

(He is also referencing Alan Ball when Gettleman says the both of them) hmm this could be Hakeem Nicks situation 2.0. Gettleman brings in an actual REAL NFL veteran WR that is actually a known name, they then leave without a contract and days later you hear the same sort of thing from Gettleman about "We both just kind of discussed if he fits or not."

I wonder if Gettleman brings in these guys and plays hardball and treats them like they are practice squad guys and rightfully so the players leave unhappy and unwilling to sign.

This seems to be kind of a pattern. I wonder if the better, veteran WRs just didnt get a good vibe from Gman? Maybe Gettleman just low balls them too much. Sure you can say Nicks was bad last year but im talking more about the principal. If Jennings signs with another team, then you know this is Hakeem Nicks 2.0 where Gman probably advised him that he doesnt want to play here

I honestly don't care if he is giving guys low offers, or just walking in and slapping them in the face with his nut sack.

Do whatever has to be done. But this offense needs an upgrade. If it isn't from FA, then look to the draft.

Our goal should be to not only compete with, but beat Seattle. Period. Get some more firepower for this offense.

Ginn was a step in the right direction, but that's only a start.

If Jennings isn't going to be a clear cut, immediate upgrade over Cotchery then what is the point?

That barrel that Fox used to have the QBs throw the ball in would be an immediate upgrade over what Cotchery was last year.

You have to trust in the Gman. We sit here as fans and have to rely on hear say from the media. At first I was very skeptical when Gettleman was hired and had a "prove it to me" type mentality. But in two years took us from 16 mill over cap to 15 under and back to back South titles and playoffs. So I think his was more about $$$ for Jennings and we all know 98% of WRs are divas and high maintenance. Gettleman is a business man and probably gave him a true value contract and he didn't like it. Until proven otherwise in Gettleman I trust.

My question is how is Jennings not a good fit? He would most likely be an automatic no 2 WR for us, great route runner, excellent locker room guy. Why is Gman doubting he would be a good fit? Ofcourse he would be a good fit and you dont need to be an NFL GM to see that.

money, expected amount of targets, scheme, guaranteed playing time

Being a good fit is more than what you see on paper. You can have the perfect candidate sitting in front of you, at least on paper, and something just doesn't vibe right. There's a lot of information you get from someone during the interview process. I'm not saying anything bad about Jennings, but when it comes down to it, you have to trust your gut before you hire someone.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
