Hornets offseason

Does anyone see a way we could go after Jimmy Butler this offseason?

From my understanding, the Bulls will offer him the max eventually, at least that's the word... But, imo, if that was the case, he would have already signed an extension with them. That signals to me that they're still trying to negotiate for a lesser amount.

I imagine they would match any offer, but it would be worth a shot.

Butler could be nice.

We won't have the space for a max offer sheet unless Al and Hendo opt out.

Yeah, that question was assuming Hendo is opting out.

Maybe we could trade AL, but I doubt we can move him after the year he's had.

If that was possible, I would love to give him a max offer, see what a Vonleh/Cody frontcourt would look like going into next season, and use the draft pick on the BPA.

A few things:

1) Shop the hell out of Kemba.  If you get offered anything and I mean ANYTHING take it and run.  Getting rid of that contract would be huge for our future.  You can't pay a ball dominant guard that can't shoot 4/48.  If we're offered a second round pick I take it.  Shop, shop, shop Kemba.  He isn't a good guard don't fool yourselves.  Well, I won't say he's bad but he's not worth near what we're about to pay him.

2) Sucks we have to put up with Al's slow, space-eating, lazy ass another year.  If we seriously extend him one more year after this season I would lead a riot in the streets of Charlotte.

3) Maybe the ping pong balls roll our way.  If we get the first pick Cho would take Towns and if Clifford remains coach he may get 10 mpg by 2018.  However a good GM would take Okafor or Russell.  Either would be huge for what we need.  But let's be real, we aren't going top-3.  We'll stay at 9 and pray to the good lord above that Hezonja or Johnson is there when we pick.  If not, Oubre I guess but Cho would definitely take Frank.

4) No big FA signings.

4/48 is nothing once the cap goes up. Alec Burks got 4/42 and he hasn't done anything. I've grown really sour on Kemba, but trading your best player (or 2nd best probably) for a second round pick + filler would be ridiculous.

you're ripping into Al but say a good GM would take okafor - who is practically a younger version of him? the smart pick is KAT.

i do agree with you about hezonja or johnson for the ninth pick though.... but i get a feeling that we might pickup someone that falls on draft night... maybe mudiay or winslow (or am i just dreaming?)

    • Wasn't talking about Medicare exactly.  Medicare advantage is different.  The one my mom uses is thru blue cross and blue shield.   Medicare Advantage (Part C) | Blue Cross Blue Shield (bcbs.com) My mom has been using it for about six months now.  Before she was using a medigap program run by United Health Care and it paid almost everything, but was costing her 400 a month.  The Medicare advantage plan doesn't cost anything (the premiums are actually paid by Medicare).  Now she does have copayments, some of them for for medicine, but so far, they aren't bad.  Hers also covers dental, which medicare normally doesn't cover.   I will state though that my Mom has Medicare part b (she pays for it, but gets reimbursed by the employer my stepdad retired from).
    • Can revisit when/if Charlotte gets an MLB team. It has been discussed lately and I think Charlotte and Nashville are supposedly high on the list.
    • Nfl leaders don't look at the population of just the city itself.  Charlotte has three of the top fifty combined statistical areas within a 1 to 1.5 hour drive.  Charlotte, Greensboro/WS/High Point, and Greenville Spartanburg.  Those three statistical areas include nearly 7 million people.  Other than Raleigh, the only one in the top fifty within an hour and half of raleigh is Greensboro.  So only about 4-5 million people.  Charlotte has many more people to draw from.   Also, many of the surrounding communities for Raleigh are not native born.  If memory serves, many still refer to Cary as Containment area for relocated Yankees.  One of the reasons the Canes do so well is a significant portion of the population are people who moved from Northern Areas.  Would that population translate into support for a NFL team?  Hard to say, but I see a tremendous amount of Giants/Jets jerseys in the triangle when I forced to endure the crazy traffic on 40/85.
