Andrus Peat

He carries his weight low, which will help him anchor against the bigger DEs of the NFL. Good footwork (lower body weight keeps him better balanced during lateral movement) and he has a good punch. Also, this is a guy who got into Stanford, so he has brains, too, which will make him very coachable. His shortcomings seem to come from technique issues, so the upside is good.

He also, because of his odd build, won't have the Top Heavy Otah issue that ended up wrecking that player's knees.

I'd be happy if we took him.

Question though: If he's got good balance, why does it seem like he gets knocked down - or just falls down -a lot when I watch clips of him?

I was up, then down, and now I'm above average on this guy. He confuses me.

This is about where I stand, but that's good enough for me to be happy about him at 25. Tackles you don't have major doubts about go in the top 5. The position is too valuable.

looking at his lower body, why is he off balance a lot in games? why does he have to re anchor a lot, because he should have a very powerful lower body judging from his frame.

Poor technique would be my first guess.

And if so, that should be coachable.

Interesting, because I see your rankings of the top 3 OTs, and I see a ranking that goes

1. Flowers

2. Clemmings

3. Humphries

(Scherff and Collins projecting to G; Peat, according to Corey Chavous of Draft Nasty, is going to be a RT).

This draft is SO wide open.  I think the problem with OT is that the college game is sending us players with a different skill set than 10 years ago.

I would add that my favorite players at OT for us are: (excluding Scherff)

Flowers

Peat

Collins

The three OL I mentioned were against the run, not necessarily best OTs. I really do think Peat is the best pure OT (behind Scherff and Collins) vs the run. Against the pass you are right that its very open, and Peat vs Flowers is very close for me at the moment.

I feel Peat has more consistency right now than Humphries and Clemmings, while having a higher ceiling than Flowers. On tape its hard to tell them apart but I feel he edges Flowers in the run game so grades higher overall.
