If Randy Gregory is available at # 25 ....

I would poo myself if we were able to pick him. Gregory - KK - Star - CJ? Holy poo. Though, I have reservations about picking a player in the first who will be almost exclusive to passing situations IE Aldon Smith.

He's got plenty of room to add weight on his frame without losing explosiveness. There might be other concerns but I wouldn't let weight be the reason I didn't draft him at 25.  Wouldn't be hard for the team's trainers to help him bulk up if he's motivated. The motivation is what I would worry about.

The issue seems to be that he can't.  You think he hasn't been trying to bulk up?  He showed up to weigh in at the combine at 235 and I bet that was with enough water in his stomach that was about to puke.  Now, word is that he's slipped back below 230.  That's probably because he was never a legit 235 to begin with.

And it's not like he came from so no nothing school that doesn't know how to develop talent.  He came from Nebraska.  They know how to develop talent.

Actually you're wrong. . His frame just like a Jason Taylor isn't the type he can pack on 20-30 pounds without losing explosiveness.. He's already muscled up on his frame already.. And his legs might not be able to carry much more without injuries starting to be a concern..

Let's also stress the fact that most players gain weight going in and out of the combine not lose.. Just like Kevin Garnett keeping weight on may be a issue he can't control. .

I don't know if he's been trying. Perhaps his coaches at Nebraska were happy with him at 235. It's hard to believe that a 6'5" guy can't add 15 pounds with a nutrition/lifting program designed to do that. But if they know he's maxed out then yeah he's probably only an OLB.

I think from the positive test that he was clearly trying to bulk up via the "munchies".

Some guys have trouble putting on weight, just like some guys have trouble keeping the weight off.  A lot of college DEs come into college around 200 or so pounds, then redshirt a year to bulk up.  Gregory came into Nebraska already listed at 235 and after spending three years at Nebraska, it doesn't seem like he's put on any weight at all.  That's a red flag.  Either he can't put on the weight or he's not putting in the work to add the weigh.  He benched 24 reps, so I'm guessing he simply can't keep the weigh on.

i think it will be hard for the panthers to pass on him if he is sitting on the board at 25.

I think it will be easy. We still have the scar of a DE being on our roster, yet unable to play for us. I think our front office expects our top draft choices to be solid on and off the field, and Gregory just doesn't seem solid enough. Still there in round 4? Sure, take a chance. Not in the top 3 rounds, tho.

i don't think so. i bet several teams are kicking themselves for passing on Justin Houston because of that failed drug test, and the fact that Frank is still on the roster, and is a lesser talent compared to Gregory will play a role. The NO tweet was dumb, but the weight issue rumor came during lying season, when some teams spread rumors about certain prospects to get them to fall to there teams.

only time will tell.
