REPORT: SS Swearinger claimed by Bucs on waivers

Liked him as a prospect however I thought the Texans reached when they took him in the 2nd round.

From Roto: Swearinger has made headlines as a big hitter with a penchant for dubious tactics, but wasn't an effective player in 2014. He graded out as a bottom-10 safety in Pro Football Focus' ratings after being similarly ineffective as a rookie. Swearinger is a poor tackler, but is due just $1.60 million over the final two years of his rookie contract. He could draw interest as a tone setter on the trade market. Apr 28 - 1:20 PM

Would take for the right price still

I would love this. Trade that fifth rounder away and pick up an instant starter for the next two years on a cheap contract. He brings instant attitude to the defense and would be a marked improvement over Harper.

Also would give us more freedom to go OT, DE, or WR even if Collins is there in the first (not a huge Collins fan personally but I understand the appeal).

    • Someone needs to make a gif of the 1 time we blitzed him and he looked like he was on skates as he just went right by Kyler... After watching that, I understand why we don't blitz...
    • The oline wasn't that bad the final drive (except Zavala on 2 plays). Bryce has terrible pocket presence and just steps/scrambles into the pass rush far too many times. And Zavala's bad blocking wouldn't have even been a problem on the 2 plays if Bryce checked it down to Chuba. It's so weird that Bryce didn't try to check it down at all the last drive when that was pretty much all he did the previous 3 touchdown drives...
    • I think just about every team would be in the same predicament if they lost 2 starting offensive linemen. It's even worse for us because our QB is so bad he can't compensate for a beat up oline. That being said, I think our depth at oline is solid. I don't think there is much a drop off from Corbett to Mays (if any) and BC has good position versatility and is IMO solid at each oline position (that I have seen him play). Zavala I thought played well last year and hopefully he was just bad yesterday because he had to come in mid-game. But yeah, none of those backups are close to the quality of Hunt
