How good is Mike Remmers

This guy was rated positively by PFF in pass protection, and was an adequate run blocker.... Do the Panthers need to upgrade him? Is he simply a solid NFL backup? Is he someone you build on? It's just some questions for tonight. There are a lot of potential RT's in this draft, but do we actually need that? With a positive pass protection rating, do we need to use a first rounder on this position?

Similar could be said of our interior. We have two solid guards in Norwell and Turner, and a backup with raw talent in Amini. Do we need to spend one of our top two picks on either guard spots or RT? Just some food for thought.

I was thinking about Flowers more and more as it gets closer. He and Peat I think are the best in this draft, in regards to game readiness for the LT spot. We would be lucky if one fell. I'm not so sure Remmers needs to be taken out. Especially with plenty of talented players in other positions, that we need help with.

It should be noted that his weekly PFF grade declined as he started more games. Did teams get tape on him which allowed them to exploit some flaws they discovered? He had basically never played before so that's a possibility that can't be discounted. Right now I'm extremely hopeful for him, but at the same time there is a reason we were his 6th team in 3 years.

That goes both ways though.  Guys who just aren't up to snuff don't get SIX tries.  Clearly there's something that six different teams have seen to bring the guy in, but it just so happens that we were the first team for which he actually produced on the field.  No way to tell if he can maintain it though.  Too small a sample.

Good depth, and that's about it IMO. He played well all things considered last year...but I tend to think it was more a flash in the pan, than a sign of things to come.

I prefer the Panthers assume this about all the positions to be honest.

Remmers bounced around for a while before coming here.

We have to decide if his play was "flash in the pan" or "finally found a fit".

Rich Gannon happenings do exist, but they are rare.

I'd love Remmers and Norwell to be ballers and the only fight in camp on the OL is for LT. History tells us both 3 OLine spots need competition and skill/talent upgrade.

    • Thin sliced roast beef, provolone, and roasted bell peppers on a toasted sub roll.  At least one thing is going right today. I don't trust anyone who's never put Bugles on their fingertips to make witch fingers.
    • But yeh,  Bryce is the only problem on this sorry excuse of a team. You could put Tom Brady on this team and we would still suck . Worst part is Tepper and his various band of clowns have been trying to build a competitive team for 7 freaking years and are no closer now than when it all started.
    • Regardless of the trade and where he was picked, Bryce actively created deception. He wore a hoodie to the combine and was 15 lbs heavier because he packed on water weight because he didnt weigh near 200 lbs. He didn't participate in drills in a wide open 4 way, really 3, QB bid. Then there was all this hype over the S2 test that he had been practicing that we've never heard about in the draft process since. Does anyone think it was an accident Stroud's score on the S2 was released? Stroud said forget the score, watch his tape. Wonder why. There was a whole bunch of shady poo going on surrounding Bryce pre draft, and I for one, find it all a little too convenient.  Just my opinion, but he was a used car salesman that used some armor all and a wash n wax and maybe a set of white walls then schmoozed his way at dinner with Dave and Nicole and sold them that he was a super savant.  There was a whole lot of BS swirling around the BY hype train and he was a full fledged participant. Frank didn't want Bryce, he wanted Stroud. A new head coach does not pick a QB he has to go design a brand new offense around unless that guy is a generationaltalent, which Bryce was most definitely not. He picks the guy that best fits what he does and that was Stroud. This was Dave and Nicole's pick and they fuged this team like they've done over and over again since they've been here. They fell for use car salesman Rhule, then used car salesman Bryce and company. And the fans got stuck with the 4 years of payments on a car less reliable than Al Bundy's Dodge.
