Could we see Shaq at running back?

Recommended Posts

First of all, I'd like to see Shaq get some reps in camp at RB. Not many, but to switch things up. I really think that with his skillset, we should give him 5-10 carries in the regular season. I know he wants to play LB and all, but to have someone of that build and that ability, we'd be crazy not to try him on offense some.

And it sounds like I'm not the only one thinking that way.

"One thing you look at with players is, 'Do they score touchdowns or do they prevent touchdowns?' Well, he's shown he has the ability to do both," head coach Ron Rivera said. "He's a very physical football player that has an innate ability to get around the football and make things happen. We're excited about that."
"He's really a complete package. There isn't anything he isn't capable of doing on the field that fits us," Gettleman said.

The context in which Dave made that quote I believe was referring to his play at linebacker (scoop and scores, pick sixes, etc.)

It would be neat to see him at running back but that really seems like an unnecessary risk with three specialist rbs , a fullback and a feature back already on the roster.

Only for emergencies, if that.

    • Is this the year the Steelers finally have a losing record?? Who is Arod going to hand off too? Who besides the newly traded and paid DK is going to run routes?? Who is the TE?? Can the OL hold for 5 secs without being flagged?? TJ watt is upset and underpaid, cam heyward is 49 years old, how has Tomlin done this?? Im not a fan, but go ahead and put Toms in the HOF, Jesus he's a wizard....
    • here I feel is the greatest overlooked skill for QBs. Being able to avoid hits, guess who was the best at that- Tom Brady. If you watch enough clips, you will see Tom take one side step left or step up, it perfectly avoids the defenders pressure. The other level is, he did so before he needed to. Just a grand master.  It's simply a godlike trait and no one talks about it.  I've pooped on BY plenty, he's much better than I thought at avoiding hits while running and still learning the master art of making defenders miss in passing situations.
    • I hope peeps don't bump my draft QB ranks where I had Anthony Ricardson ranked above BY..... Add another selfburn, I had Levis right next to BY if not slightly above him a couple different ranks..... * I did have stroud clear #1... *** BUT the way trends are currently....... its too early still, but BY is pointing up at least while the others are down.... Still wish that trepper never forced that trade, but I totally get he was beyond tired of waiting for a QB savior. Dang tepper, if you had the coaching staff, either Baker or Sam Darnold would have been the guy.
