What do we do now with Nate Chandler?

Recommended Posts

most will probably say we should cut him, and understandably so. however, I'm wondering if he doesn't still have a place on the team. what if we moved him back to guard? didn't he start on the defensive line as a DT?

don't get me wrong, I dont think he should ever be asked to play OT ever again. but I'm curious whether he could benefit this team in another position.

what say you Huddle?

Honestly the kid should be proud he has lasted this long in the NFL as an undrafted DT turned OG/OT. He will have to compete for a job in camp like every other guy, He has flexibility, but he lacks quality play at the positions he has been assimilated into. He has to make a big jump to make the 53.

He's gotta be on the outside looking in right now in terms of getting a roster spot. Right now, we don't need to do anything with him. Bring him to camp and let him compete.

I'm of a similar mindset. I think he is just camp fodder at this point. but I also think that, used correctly, he has a chance to benefit the team. I'm with you. let him compete at multiple positions

What do you mean you what do we do?

Have you seen our pathetic OL? Even with the addition of our elite back up OT just drafted? We're still pitiful along the OL. So we keep Chandler, because we don't have anyone better, as sad and unfortunate that is.

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
