Cam Newton The Lebron James of the NFL

I have to agree. When you look at the pure talent and all the things he mentioned he is the closest thing to LeBron James this league has ever seen. How lebron can play multiple positions most people say cam could be successful at tight end maybe even running back. But wins in the NFL are more about team than nba. One person doesn't just carry a team. Sorry still struggling to embed if some one could give me a hand...

Cam's physical attributes AND athleticism are probably unmatched by any other QB in the league.  But judging by his W-L record, what's between the ears is what he's lacking.  However, at least there has been improvement with Cam on his mental side, but it's definitely his biggest hang-up.

The teams overall win/loss record tells you that he's lacking in football intelligence?

If he's the most physically talented QB in the league, but yet he falls short where it matters (W-L), then yes.  It's no secret that Cam's football IQ is ho-hum at best.

The biggest difference is something DG pointed out in a press conference about players he wants to add... Cam HATES to lose. Absolutely hates it and can't stand it. He'll do everything in his power to get a win for the team, put his body on the line, and he's willing to fight and die for that inch (in the words of Al Pacino). LeBron doesn't have that winning mentality. He gives up on plays when calls don't go his way, he has only won championships by bringing in the best instead of beating the best, not by giving it everything possible, etc.. Cam can physically be compared to LeBron, certainly. But he compares mentally to guys like Jordan, Isiah Thomas (pretty much that whole Bad Boys team), etc. Not LeBron. Cam is Jordan's mindset in LeBron's body.

No secret amongst who exactly? Would you care to offer some examples?

Newton obviously has things to improve on, accuracy mainly, but I haven't heard anyone (except trolls) calling into question his football IQ.

There are threads on this very forum that site sources where Cam's audible "permission" is very limited.  All you have to do is watch game film of Rogers, PM, Brady and you'll see a major difference.  They can dissect the defense at the line and adjust accordingly at the line.  Either Cam can't do it (as well) or isn't allowed to do it as much.  I can be pro-Cam and still be critical without being a troll.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
