Do we have the best offensive line in the nfc south?

Looking at it, it does seem kind of odd, especially considering what we started with last year, but looking it over, it's easy to debate that we have the best line.

Oher (?) - Norwell - Kalil - Turner - Remmers/DWill

Compare that to everyone else, and you come away with a positive outlook on our line compared to others. Just to kind of prove the point, lets list the top 10 o-linemen in the division in your opinion. (obviously you can't really list rookies, even though Peat looks like he could be a franchise LT)

1. Logan Mankins

2. Ryan Kalil

3. Max Unger

4. Andrew Norwell

5. Zach Strief

6. Terron Armstead

7. Jon Asamoah

8. Trai Turner

9. Mike Remmers

10. Ryan Schraeder

Obviously, this list has players on it who hardly played half of a season, that is how shitty the o-line position is in general in the south, and Oher is obviously a huge question mark. However, I do firmly believe we have four of the best ten o-linemen in the division. What do you think?

Let's not count chickens until they hatch

Mother Chicken has been there , and we had to 2 little chicks hatch last season while another one will hatch this season. So yes we do.

4/5 OL of panthers will be starting caliber player with 3 pro bowl players in the interior maybe even all pro.

I'd be willing to say the Panthers have the best interior offensive line in the south

Yes, agreed.  I could buy this way before saying our entire o-line is the best.  Comparing our line to the rest of the NFC South does put a nice positive spin on our current situation though.

I think Oher will be decent, but theres no guarantee with him and we have a tiny sample size for Remmer so there is again, no guarantee.  Turner/Khalil/Norwell does make a beast interior, but we we still have highly susceptible Tackle play which is the most important on the line.  Honestly, if Oher/Remmers/Martin/Williams are even competent, and our O-line can even play like a middle of the road line, our team will be scary good.

Well we sure have come a long way since the days of endless threads declaring our OL the worst the NFL has ever seen, lol.

At this point just about all we have is hope regarding the addition by subtraction that was cutting Byron Bell, and signing Michael Oher.

Yes, I agree!  I just about to say the same thing.

And it is still a work in progress!

One of the best in the NFL, if they have that "rookie to sophomore" year growth.

The tackle play got better when Silatolu was replaced by Norwell and then Turner assumed the RG job.  Imagine if this team had not signed Norwell--don't want to think about it.

How else will we improve the OT play?  A stout running game and a stud FB.  I think we are upgraded at the RB/FB spots.

I think of it this way:

Where were we weak last year?  T, WR, Special teams.

Guess where we are at least twice as good this year?  T (debatable, but I am optimistic), WR, Special teams.

That'll do, Gettlemen.  That'll do.
