One thing that doesnt make sense to me is keeping more DBs for this Buffalo package. Yes, we like to run nickel, but shaq thompson gives us a lot of flexibility and more options, as rivera has said. I would think we would meed less DBs for this reason

Colin Jones has looked outstanding in practices in addtion to being a special teams demon. We don't know how quickly Shaq will pick up the position.

So Trusnik does not make the team?  I thought he was a perfect fit to beef up special teams and depth at LB with starting experience.  From Rivera in March,

.....Panthers coach Ron Rivera says Trusnik is ''an experienced player who adds more competition to the linebacker position and has also been a special teams ace. I expect him to come in and be a leader.''

Rivera has glowing remarks for every player when asked. I would't read much into it.

Which LB would you release to keep Trusnik?

I wouldn't off that list.  Would look at another position.   And I haven't seen Trusnik like you have, just found it curious.

    • So what about their sign is not compliant or causing the issue according to the rules? Them always having it, or the amount of time they have had it, or their loyalty to the team is not relevant to this situation. To be clear, I know next to nothing about this situation, just trying to clarify.  I have no dog in this fight and am emotionless on this topic. If you are breaking a rule, you do not get special treatment just because you have been here breaking it a long time.
    • The team fell for that late season averageness he displayed last year and got burned. You want to do that again? I don’t.  But I sort of do agree that we are stuck with him as the starter.  I can’t decide whether replacing him gets us into the playoffs so suffering through one last season is the price for freedom in 2026.  Three ways to be free in 2026: He actually plays like a real NFL QB,  The team sends him packing. Be completely out on tne Panthers until changes are made.
    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   EDIT: they've had it since 2003. Still a long-ass time.... Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
