How Panthers spend: DE's

Captain Morgan

Recommended Posts

Total position spending vs. cap: $23,651,995

Spending vs. league average: 4th

$20,020,000 of the $23,651,995 tied up in Johnson puts the spending out of whack. The next highest player against the cap is Addison, a pass-rushing specialist, at $1,020,000. Don’t be surprised if Johnson’s contract is restructured by September as it has been the past two years. No other defensive end in the NFL has a higher cap figure. As valuable as Johnson is to Carolina, his productivity doesn’t match the number.

Pretty sure Gentleman has said in the past that CJ's contract is one you don't touch unless you have to.  If anything, CJ will get cut.  I don't think you're going to see a restructure.  An extension would be possible, but still tough because of the huge chunk of change left on that deal.  It'd be tough tobput enough new money on the table to make it feasible for him to sign it.

CJ is in his prime and comming off injury.  Sure gettleman could sport some type of restructure or extension, but I am here to say CJ is elite at his position and worth big bucks.

Look for some sort of moification at that $20 hit. Aka extension. Leader of our DL

The cap hit this season sucks, no doubt, but, his contract numbers overall aren't terrible.  If it were structured different from the beginning, so it wasn't back-loaded to hell, we wouldn't be complaining at all right now.  I'm sure Hurney either didn't have a choice, or thought he didn't have a choice, at the time CJ signed.  The overall numbers, guaranteed, etc. aren't horrible though.

    • I had everything saved on an old email address and my computer crashed and could not be revived.  I tried reviving it, then stumbled on one I was going to create several years ago...So I am using it instead.  My fault--did not keep the email and forgot password--
    • Rasheed Walker for Kris Jenkins Jr.is what i am actually referring to in that particular post  all those #'s you are referring to are athletic #'s & Monroe Freeling had or has an impressive combination of size & raw athletiscm & it has nothing do with his size or athelticsm that is preventing him from being a day 1 starter in the NFL technique is where he struggled at the NFL combine & not only scouts but analysts alike also viewed him as more of a developmental type of player rather than a day 1 starter  go take a look at Will Campbell transition from the SEC to the NFL another first round LT that was drafted #4 overall by the New England Patriot,s.Will Campbell was a three year starter at  LSU & was thought to be one of if not the very best LT's in the SEC  & compare his SEC carrer to his rookie season in the NFL? just because you played good in the SEC at LT does nescarrily mean you are ready to start at LT in the NFL day 1 & or your rookie season  & one last thing i think you are jumping to conclusion & somehow assuming that i do not like Monroe Freeling ?which could not be further from the truth .what i do not like is the idea starting a player who is not ready ...just saying
    • I'd 10x rather play the NFC North than NFC West.
