Atlanta's "the falcoholic" writer gives props to the Panthers.

"Another year of not giving the Carolina Panthers respect would be foolish" "Despite repeating as NFC South champions, another off-season is passing by with the Panthers not being pegged as the favorites to win the NFC South. Why hasn't everyone accepted that Carolina is a well-rounded team that won't go away for years to come?"

" The concerns about their difficult schedule and fragile offensive line are well documented. Other than that, it baffles me on how Carolina has already been discounted by several analysts and fans. You can’t find many well-rounded defenses that feature multiple studs at linebacker and an array of pass rushers with upside. Carolina’s defense alone will keep them in games on a weekly basis, regardless if Newton is struggling with his accuracy or the offensive line is getting annihilated."

The article (I think) is pretty well done, and from a Falcons standpoint.

What say you Huddle?

Nice article.  Had to cut and paste the link.  Every other time it came back to your post.

About time someone nailed it.  This is exactly how it should be.  While we don't have every base covered we are clearly on the right path.

Talking heads and other media types write us off because it is there easiest way to get agreement from their followers.  Unless your a Panther fan all you see is the lack of making that big name splash in free agency.

One thing I would have liked to see him talk a bit more about is Gettleman.  Gettleman has shown over the past 2-1/2 years that he knows what he is doing.   Though no one is going to hit on every move.  His moves are calculated and pretty accurate.   Some may say Shaq is a tweener.   I say that is exactly what Gettleman wanted.  A Tweener to fill multiple roles in a stellar defense..  A perfect fit.

I believe the Funchess move is going to pay huge dividends.  Though Oher may not be spectacular I do believe he will be solid and solid is all we need.

I am sure on the Falcon website there is nearly a meltdown and Alan Strk is getting basted   I think he is spot on.

Nice find.

Thing about every NFL team is they have a weakness.  That's what the salery cap does. So the media picks and chooses in that way.  Oh Adrew Luck and the Colts reloaded this year with another WR or the Colts continue to ignore there defense.  Just the way it goes I guess.

Comments section pretty interesting as well.  Some Panther fans chiming in, thanking him for reasoned post and his reply:

No problem

I was talking about the NFC South for this radio show appearance. I was doing research and it really stuck me on how talented Carolina’s squad has become. Of course, they were always a respectable team. After looking at their roster, I was really impressed and it inspired me to write this piece.

This is how "under the radar" the Panthers are.  Here is a guy so in love with his team that he spends all his free time to develop a website about his beloved falcons and yet he is surprised to find how good a team the Panthers are after doing "research" for a radio show.

Keep in mind, he has 3 division opponents to scout, not an entire league.  Keep in mind this is the team that basically got his coach fired last year by embarrassing the falcons in their dome.  Keep in mind this is the team and the defense that the vaunted Mattie Ice and Julio Jones can't figure out and keep in mind this is the B2B division winner for the first time in Division history.

It will never cease to amaze me how under the radar this team has become.

Because it's not fashionable to root for Cam Newton, or the Panthers by the National Media.

the only thing i could find possibly wrong with the article is that it says Cam's throwing suffers on blitzes. Isn't he ranked as one of the best throwers under blitz pressure?

Could have sworn i read that somewhere on here. Or maybe it was before last year, not sure.

Don't think it's just you, I remember reading something like this as well.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
