Huddle, you've done it yet again. You've appointed Jarrett Boykin our #1 WR based on 6 catches against the Dolphins 2s and 3s (on 12 targets). Corey Brown isn't making the team because of 1 drop. And you've even gone as far as to put Wegher ahead of Tolbert, CAP and Todman based on a few, albeit very impressive, runs against the opposing team's 3s. Last week you appointed Rakim Cox our starting DE. Hell, now Terry Redden is better than Cole and Dwan according to you. Just layoff on making vast predictions based on a few plays in a preseason game. I can't imagine what this place will be like after Friday if we get absolutely lit up in all facets of the game by New England.  Only 3 more weeks of this before we can finally get some meaningful football. Please just allow the Huddle to be at least bearable until the 13th.

Did you ever try and keep your leg from moving when the doc hit it with that little hammer? It's gonna jerk, no matter what you do. 

It's nice to see some guys do well who we're worried about or not expecting much from. If that means some people blowing 'em up into starters or stars I can deal with it.

I don't disagree at all, but by that rationale, I'd say panthers.com, @panthers, etc are doing the same thing.  We're 2-0!  Yahoo!  Our first team units have looked shaky but all that matters is the final score.  Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I don't see how Tolbert and Philly Brown are overreactions. Tolbert is noticebly slower (even last year) and his receiving skills are declining (not to mention he will be 30 this year). Some new blood and his extra cap space could not hurt. As for Philly Brown, his roster spot is not a given, and don't act like Boykin is some scrub that hasn't had production in the NFL. Claiming him the #2 is not an overraction. I would much rather have him as #2 than Brown. The rest I agree are overreactions.

Tolbert is a tough one but clearly is on the bubble. Brown had been having a nice camp so one bad night shouldn't put him on the bubble. Then again I am sure he isn't guaranteed a roster spot.

Unless we are stupid, you find Wegher a spot on this roster.  Unless of course you want to let another team scoop him up. While I agree it has been against 3rd teams.  His speed, vision and ability to hit the hole are obvious good RB qualities whether with ones or threes.  If anything he has deserved a shot with better competition.

Well, some people are just as guilty of holding on to the past and making legends out of JAGs because of a couple of plays out of an entire season.  This is not about hyperbole or holding on to people because you like them, or because they have been around for a long time.  There's much too much of that on the Huddle.  Gettleman has made me believe: There is no place for emotion when you're trying to build a champion. Those who are good guys and have served you well can be given their much-deserved pat on the back as you see them out the door. But sometimes change is just necessary.

Lot's of hyperbole there.  I'll just say that so far, I'm not happy with the performance of most of our starters.

It's preseason. No gameplan, watered down offense. Starting offenses never do well against starting defenses.

      Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.

      Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.

      Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
