Damiere Byrd did not get a single offensive rep Friday night.

Philly robbed a lot of dudes of opportunities.

Made no difference.  The coaches would make a point to see who they needed to see regardless, and guys like Byrd weren't going to play with the 1st, or likely even 2nd, team anyway.

Was thinking the same thing. Browning and Byrd didn't get to play because Philly played into the fourth.

Getting Byrd to the practice squad would be a win.  Not showing him to the Patriots isn't the worst thing in the world.  Byrd has as much long term potential as Brown and he has much better hands so hope he can stick around.  But it never seemed likely that he would make the 53 - and losing Benjamin probably made that even more unlikely because we now need five or six guys that are ready to contribute right now.

Hope he doesn't ball out in the fourth preseason game.

we have no WR talent.  If Philly wasn't getting comical pity reps Boykin and the likes could of gotten small reps they deserved.

Especially considering how the game played out with Cotchery getting hurt it was a perfect chance to see some heavier reps with guys that are more unknowns like Boykin.

Always been a Ron guy despite his flawed ways but the dude is just too stubborn

Yeah, I also abandoned that train Friday night.  Not just because of the lack of snaps, but his quickness and speed have not done much for his PR ability either.  A huge part of that might be the scrubs blocking for him once he gets in, but he just doesn't seem very decisive.

I see what ypu're saying but no one is considered an unknown to the staff at this point.  Guys that needed to play played, including Philly (whatever the staff's motivation) and including guys like Boykin on ST, and everyone else will play next week against the same caliber of talent they may or may not have played against this week had Philly caught his passes.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
