SI.com's Greg Bedard predicts Panthers win NFC South...in unlikely fashion

They also have the potential to be horrid on offense.  If both defenses are as good as predicted, and both offenses are as bad, that one could be a snoozefest to fans of offensive football.

A game like this is tailor-made for a mobile QB to make the difference with some crucial playmaking when it comes down to it.

Everyone hating on that prediction, but honestly, that'd be a typical Rivera season.  Terribly slow start followed by an incredibly strong finish.

When have we ever gotten off to a fast start under Rivera?  Don't worry, I'll wait.

Last year 2-0 start, I guess it depends on what you mean by "start" are you defining start through the first two games?! First four games?

we went 7 straight games (8 weeks) without a win last season.

sounds like this guy has the Ron formula figured out

Charles Godfrey, Antoine Cason, Thomas, Melvin White, Decoud, Nate Chandler, Byron Bell, Deangelo Williams and Amini Silatolu certainly played a large part in that.

I choose to base my season outlook based on what we saw from the team that more closely remedies our current squad.

But good lord that's an awful lot of stink in the secondary and on the offensive line.

ok....but Ron's coaching decisions have also been noticeably poor early on in seasons.

Sometimes the answer is in the roster but Ron is painfully slow in tweaking it.

I think despite all the WR talk our DBs could be the biggest weak link causing us to get behind early.  We got slower in the secondary....and have more questions than people realize IMO

Even so I think the crop of DBs we currently have is certainly the most talented we've had in quite a few years.  Norman has shown the ability to shut down some big name receivers.  Bene is a playmaker.  Tillman is a man you can trust to have on the field.

Yea Harper is old and slow, but I think Ron wises up and spells him relatively often and gets the other safeties involved.  Coleman certainly has potential too.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
