FBGP's '15 NFL Week 1 Panthers/Jagaurs Preview

If we can't even beat the Jags, then what team can we beat? What team on our schedule is worse than the Jags? The Bucs maybe? Have I totally misread our team? It would seem to me that our defense would totally strangle the young and inexperienced Jag offense. If they carve up our defense then EVERYONE save the Bucs will do the same. Are we looking at a fuging 2-3 win season? Can't be. I just can't possibly see a loss to the Jags. If we lose to the 3 win Jags burn this poo down. We're finished. The rest of the teams we play this season (except the Bucs) are better than the Jags.

Our defense won't necessarily be a problem unless they get tired from being on the field due to an ineffective offense. If we can keep them honest with our passing game,  then we will win because we will force them out of the box,  and in turn we will rip them to shreds.

I think that our defense will be better than Jacksonville and I think we will run better than they will. They may be better in the air but our front seven are better than theirs. I think the offense will be better than people think and Gano is going to be money this year

 Panthers 20

Jacksonville 14

I just don't see a rookie RB and second yr QB carving up our D.

also......he must have forgotten about our LB's.

Guessing he gives points to the home team, regardless of who's playing.

Our Panthers cut most the fat on the team that made last season such a mess and strengthened all the areas that were the cause of last year's ugly record.

If we had Ginn last season, I would basically guarantee 3-more wins based off of better starting field position alone, not even mentioning how much better our current OL is compared to what we had last season.

We we also improved both LB and upgraded our defensive backfield.

Mist critics picked TB to beat us in our first game last season as well and I know that no other NFCS improved their roster as much as we did this offseason, so we should be favorites to repeat as division champs.

Its not like we're asking Cam for more than 275 yards passing to keep the defense fresh and half of last year we had Fozzy and Reaves as our rushing attack with swole bones as our FB because Tolbert, Stew and Deangelo missed considerable playing time due to injury. So there's another upgrade there.

how can you favor one of the worst teams in the league over a probable divisional favorite?

Fug the pundits...can't wait to see them all stumble their way onto the Panther's bandwagon.

I just don't get the sudden Jags love this season. What have they done to be so much better that people are calling them a sleeper team and how they will beat us?! Added Julien Thomas? (Who btw is out for our game?!)

I could see if they were a 7-8 win team last season and right on the brink of greatness, but they weren't. I just don't get the sudden Jags love suddenly

Our defensive line is going to take such a massive dump on their o-line, it's not even right. This matchup is so completely wonderful for us, anyone picking us to lose is not looking at the match up correctly at all. I have said it all month and will continue saying it; we are going to blow Jacksonville out, and it won't even be relatively close.

    • Completion percentage depends on the offense and type of QB.  So no I don't care about a raw comparison lol. If you don't know what I mean by that I don't know what to tell you. As to Baker, this is the second time you've ignored me and claimed I didn't say something when I did. I'm going to just stop r spending to that crap soon but on the possibility you are just missing these things in good faith - "Baker Mayfield is 11th in QBR, 14th in yards despite the TON of injuries that offense has had, 10th in QB rushing yards, 12th in TDs (and above the average in TD% lol), 25th in INTs (league average would be something like 16th). So yes, he's quite a bit ahead of the average in many categories." Rushing yards by a QB DO matter. You'd think Panthers fans would know that.  Some of Bryce's best plays have come when he uses his legs too, and some of that IS yards on the ground. And the reality is that Tampa has had crazy injury issues and if you look at Bakers career he is unquestionably more successful than Bryce and above average at that. This year his top 3 WRs have all missed considerable time and whose best player on offense hasn't played almost all year...
    • Look at the chart. if you are claiming his numbers prove he not  an NFL caliber QB, than neither is Bo Nix, Trevor Lawrence, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix, CJ Stroud, Baker Mayfield and Mahommes. They are all below average and within 2 points of Youngs' numbers.
    • Could be worse. Captain Clempsun is sub 60% completion
