Panthers vs Jaguars

Kickoff is at 1:00 in Jacksonville.

The weather here is amazing. 80 degrees and sunny for the game with low humidity.

I will be tweeting from the field today. Follow @CarolinaHuddle on twitter

The Panthers today have a very winnable game and the opportunity to start fast in the race for the division. The most difficult portion of the schedule begins in a few weeks. It is extremely important to win these games against lesser opponents.

Keys to Victory -

- Run early, run often. With two very capable running backs on the roster and an improved offensive line, the Panthers should be able to move on the ground.

- Stretch the field - At least one big play of 30+ yards is needed today from Ginn or Brown. The Panthers cannot face 8 in the box all season long and expect to win.

- Kony Ealy - Ealy must show why he earned the starting right end position. Charles Johnson and KK Short will be double teamed at times. Ealy must win his 1 on 1 matchup.

I expect to see the receivers moved around. I expect to see two tight end sets... with Funchess possibly getting a few reps from the 2nd spot. I expect to see Cotchery as reliable. And I expect to see Greg being Greg.

Offensive sleeper: Fozzy Whitaker

Excited to see how Fozzy and Ted Ginn's presence on special teams effects field position.

Expect to see the defense cause the offense to turn the ball over at least once.

And pound the crap out of that ball.

    • Watching the Bears over hype him after historically bad QB play on that team has been fun, well that and crap coaching. It's like they learned nothing from last year even if the players are polar opposites. I don't see a Cam in him, he looks like what I feared Cam was coming out early in his draft process where Cam made me feel better as it went along and Williams made be doubt more. I still don't see how he ends up the best QB in his class.  The funniest thing is that they could walk from him next year and just waste a bonus pick while still picking in the top 5 again.
    • Not much action in this sub but the NBA draft still means something for the Hornets so starting a discussion.  I have been watching a ton of videos on these prospects lately.  This team needs a big man and overall defense. That said, Dalton Knecht fits perfectly here IMO.  He is older and doesn’t play defense but his dude is a next level scorer.  Really nice athleticism as well. Good ball handling.     I saw him in person in the NCAA tournament in a regional in Charlotte.  He did not have a good offensive game at all.  But, he did not even try on defense.  It was nuts watching him chill as players got layups on him.  So, you won’t get a defensive guy. That said, he is a ridiculous scorer with his size and athleticism.  If he is there we need him. I seriously see shades of a Luka Doncic type scorer.
