re: I'm calling it now. Panthers 42 Saints 28(Posted on 9/21/15 at 10:58 am to xraytech)
The debate for the worst team is between the Saints and the Bucs and we just lost to the Bucs.

Holy crap - this is awesome.

"First off, I'd like to apologize because I think you meant for this thread to be more positive, but honestly, I'm not even sure how you could possibly spin this week's matchup as good for us.

The only thing we've really been able to do well on offense so far this year is exploit our RBs in the passing game vs other team's linebackers. If Kuechly plays with the rest of that linebacking crew our offense is going to get eaten alive. We'll probably get lucky and have one screen pass be moderately effective early in the game, and then Payton will go back to the well at least five times and they will get completely blown up all five times. We'll continue to call slow developing outside rushing plays with a back who isn't good at running them and an average at best offensive line, and Carolinas LBs will tear them up. We'll continue to call slow developing pass plays, where our offensive line clearly can't hold up long enough for the routes to develop. This isn't even mentioning a quarterback who may or may not be able to throw the ball down the field well because of injury and/or age. We'll call a great deal of max protect play action despite a completely ineffective running game, where we send one receiver out and expect them to beat double or triple coverage because obviously the safeties aren't going to bite. Their fast LBs will also eat up our mid range passing game, with numerous passes defended and at least a couple huge hits.

Defensively I could see us doing slightly better than expected. I don't think anyone will be as undisciplined as Galette was at times in the past, and they'll keep Newton contained. However, just because he's contained, doesn't mean he won't have all day to throw. Newton also seems very willing to throw deep balls to his receivers in man to man coverage, and we'll get at least a few huge pass interference penalties on Browner, Breaux, Swann...I mean really, take your pick.

I just don't feel this is like last year where you didn't know what Saints team to expect. We are now in Jaguars type territory, where we don't have the talent and aren't going to make the adjustments necessary to succeed. We're going to run the same exact offense that won't work with this personnel, and we don't have the defensive line or secondary to really do much but hope to be 'okay' defensively. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not going to get my hopes up."

Yea it will be within a touchdown I am sure.

Our team goes for the win, but they dont really care to blow people out. Once we are ahead by more than 8 points we go conservative and protect the football. I' fine with that but I know it drives a lot of Huddlers crazy.

Conservative, a word that the Panthers have grown to love, haha

It works.

I see the fans who want to throw the football 100 times a game like it is Madden as unintelligent about our scheme and philosophy. The Carolina Panthers have been a conservative run first team since it's inception. It comes from the very top with Richardson who hires mostly defensive coaches who agree with the conservative approach.

I feel sorry for fans who just started watching the Panthers 5 years ago and expect us to become the Saints, Packers or Patriots... it isnt going to happen.

True that. We don't have that kind of scheme and we don't have the personnel to do it. I like our scheme though, I think a lot of people bitch about the conservative side when it's 3rd and 8 and we run it. That was an issue I had back in the day. It was like the coaching staff had no faith in our offense. But I don't mind it as much with Cam. It mixes it up a lot.
