Funchess getting pushed around still

Whoa what happened in here. So much butt hurt, so little time.

I was simply pointing out that Funchess is still struggling with one aspect of the game, something he has struggled with in camp. I didn't call him soft. I didn't say he was a bust. Just needs to learn to use his size to his advantage in certain situations here.

So much dumb in this thread. Calm down.

He was matched up with Browner all day who probably has the best jam at the line of any CB in the NFL which is why the Saints signed him. They want him to be physical at the line with all the big WRs in the division of which there are quite a few good ones.

but if Bersin makes 1 catch on 1 target he is a "scrappy white guy"who's "a smart route runner and moves the chains" with his 13 receptions last year.

Lol, not to me.   Dude is always one toe flexion from tripping over his own feet a la him falling down untouched on a key third down yesterday where he was the target.

poo like that is why it boggles my mind that we don't AT THE VERY LEAST bring in WRs to workout, just to see what they have.  I mean, give someone else a chance to see if they're better than what we have, but we don't even make that effort.

It's been said before - and I think it's valid - that Kelvin Benjamin caused a lot of folks to have unrealistic expectations.

Funchess is actually developing pretty normally for a second round receiver. Some transition time is to be expected.

A 30% receiving rate is not developing normally for a rookie.

2015 Draft Class > Funchess ranks 18th of 20 rookie receivers who have been targeted at least 1 time. We will see how this progresses through the season, but he is on pace to be among the worst of the rookie WRs.

Rookie WRs over the past decade > Funchess ranks 191st of 195 rookie receivers with 10+ targets in their rookie season.

Let's hope for a dramatic turn around.

On that last drive,  pushed out of the back of the end zone by a smaller corner.  Refs hat came down.

In case you are wondering why he isn't getting more looks.

apparently he's "too young," to garner holding calls for illegal contact downfield.

Im so sick of this double-standard that the MFL refs are showing to bigger market teams and their players.

Ive said it time and time again, Carolina is not a "small market." I don't care how you slice it. This fan base covers two states with good-sized cities...including the 17th largest city (population-wise,) in the USA.

heck, Raleigh alone has as more residents than Pittsburgh, and New Orleans (last-time I checked demographics.)

Now I know there are a lot of transplants here, but our stadium always sells-out and the Franchise is ranked #19 in revenue by Forbes.

Sick of having the Panthers Organization as "small market."

Yeah, in the category you chose to rank them by.

Check the others.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
