This defensive line please.

To bad Rivera wouldn't consider throwing in some 3-4 defensive sets.  Improves depth and let's our strongest position be the most prevalent on the field.  Allen, short/star, Addison/short.  Then Klein and Luke n the middle and td and shaq on the edges that would be a nightmare for a qb.  Possibly rotate Klein as the edge player jus gotta pick your poison.

ps: I know Allen just left a 3-4 system that he didn't fit in, but he would be one of the 3 DL strictly rush end with our depth at LB

i really wish m9re fans understood the difference between 3-4 LBs and 4-3 LBs. There are differences, and they are not interchangeable.

kinda has the look of a Seattle style defense with Allen as the LEO.  Might be interesting with some combination of Luke/TD/Shaq lurking behind that.

hate to pick on this specifically but that's a difference between this defense and theirs.  They have a Leo who doesn't have to play the run.  When you have a Jared Allen you let him play the tackle, having him in space isn't how you play him.  He doesn't need to be in space because of athleticism and a lack of ability against the run - he'll play the run.  You let Thomas Davis roam free instead, because that's the choice you make on who you're trying to protect from a blocker.

Anything we get above .500 this season is icing, imo. The injury woes including our #1 receiving phenom, a possible starting RE (Big Frank,) CJ being mediocre at best on a gimpy hammy. TDs banged-up. Stewart's always a week by week game-day decision. Crotchety being out. Luke and Star on the mend. Harper still being a starter and our young O-line jelling.

I mean, how much can we really expect from these guys? I have no idea what to expect other than drafting nothing but Hawg-mawlies in the next draft unless a top-notch safety is available.

Im just amazed that we finally have a dedicated leader on both the offense and defense just coming off their rookie contracts on the squad for the next 6-years, which is a solid foundation to be built around.

it seems that we have elite leaders at almost every level of our team.

OL-Kalil

Receivers-Olsen and Benjamin

QB-Cam

RB-Stewart?

DL-Star/KK

LB-Luke

DB-Norman/Beniwikerie

Safety, LT and DE are our only real question marks if everyone is healthy.

We'll have what it takes to be perennially competitive and front runners for years.

We've got the cap-room and the FO is doing wonders. I like the toughness coach Rivera brings to the team and I like the fact that Cam is taking the reigns, regardless of what ridiculous play calling Shula mumbles down to the field.

Just have to grin and bare it this season and hope we continue to improve, regardless of who's on the field...but somehow our ST doesn't look any better than last year, so that obviously needs to be cleaned up and that's the bottom 1/4 of our depth chart...

sorry for the rant.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
