Bears looking to trade Alshon???

Or Ryan Grigson

The colts line up Andrew Luck with ten WR's on offense and are still 0-3.

If only the NFL allowed guys on the other side of the ball to stop offenses from scoring, that would be awesome.

Edit: Growl pointed out to me that they are not 0-3. My apologies.

I doubt the bears would do it but I'd offer a conditional third round pick that can become a second if we sign him long term. He would help us a lot, and with our bye coming up it should be just enough time to get him and Cam somewhat on the same page.

i'd say that you seei the Wide Receiver position as glamorous is part of the underlying fallacy your understanding of people's hopes. It's the same line of dialogue that the nonsensical "dis aint madden brah hah!" crowd toss out to have to avoid a realistic discussion.

people see that the team is now going all out to win this year-as they should-and are discussing what has been a position of weakness on the team. Benjamin isnt playing and Funchess isnt contributing. Why would those players be relevant at all to the discussion at hand?

Because playing year-to-year GM is how Marty Hurney fuged this team and still no one has learned from it.

Why is this going over people's heads? A trade for Alshon in a contract year using a draft pick is silly. No leverage on a guy who will want more than Josh Norman. Don't get me wrong, I'd love him on the roster, but Gettleman isn't going to sacrifice with such little reward.

This is an enormos hindsight fallacy. In many regards he had a similar approach to management that Gettleman does, which I'd say you could argue trickles down from the top.

The difference between them is Gettleman's ability to scout talent and manage the financial situation.

I wonder how many championshipless seasons will go by before fans start to realize that building a team for 4-5 years down the road isnt always worth sacrificing being elite now (because, logically, if youre always preparing for the future then the future never comes) The team has realized this and is making moves accordingly, how long will it take do you think for the fans to readjust their mindset?

it's a very simple, very popular rule in the NFL-if youre one or two players away from being a contender now-you make that move.

It would have to be like a 5th rounder that turned into a 3rd if we resign him.  Maybe Chicago would think he is as likely to sign with us long term as any team, especially if we can get a slight hometown discount (one can only hope).

I don't see this happening though.  IMO, it is pretty clear that DG is in the middle of executing a very detailed and well thought out long term plan with the cap.  He would never make a move that foiled this plan, since by most accounts it is working really well so far and appears to be a formula for sustained success.

Oh yeah. Gettleman loves to trade future first round picks and throw blockbuster contracts at players.
