Prisco breaks down Cam's progression

The glowing coverage of Cam continues, this time Pete Prisco does the honors.

It's a good piece that illustrates how Cam has progressed as a passer. Definitely worth a read.

I went back and watched two of his 2013 games on tape to compare that version of Newton to this one. What I saw was a player who has a much better feel for running an NFL offense, a player with better mechanics with a better understanding of defenses.

I want to hear what Terry Bradshaw thinks. I will never forget his comments 2 minutes before Cam's debut in Arizona where he said "Gabbert, Ponder, and Locker are all better Qbs". 2 of them are out of the league and the other is Colin Kaeperdick's backup.

What about 2 minutes before this past game where TB said Saints run the ball and win easy on the road?

T Brad had one too many concussions, I do not take his word seriously.

No one should take that joker seriously. He's old an his overconcussed brain just doesn't work like it used to. He's still hilarious and a legend in my eye... even if he's a bit racist.

Cam is basically turning into late nineties/early 2000s steve mcnair, where his stats don't measure up to the other guys but he just grits it the fug out and people respect him for it.

Let's hope things end better for Cam.

If Cam continues to pass like he did in the Saints game, he stats will measure up to the other MVP candidates.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
