Trade for Sammy Watkins?

Fah Sho, used goods, used is used. Did you think we could get Olsen for a 3rd

Second year isn't "used goods".

Olsen was in his fourth year and didn't fit Mike Martz's system. He also wasn't a top five pick that his team traded up to get.

The notion that the Bills would agree to trade Watkins away easily is just stupid.

We already have a #1 and a high round pick who still has plenty of potential to be a quality guy.

Trading what it would take to get a guy like Watkins means giving up on Funchess only four games in.

Throw in that Ginn is off to the best start of his career.

Don't think either of those players you name can bring more to the table than Sammy Watkins but really this would never happen. Panther Fan since the start and haven't felt any excitement about having a receiving combo on our team since smitty and Moose...and that's ancient history. We haven't been ranked in the top 10 in offense since chud got bait in switched. I'm getting older every season and I just want to win...Like Now!!!!

Heck no I wouldn't give up a bunch for Watkins or most anyone else. We need our future number 1 for a left tackle or DE. When KB comes back and as Funchess improves and Ginn gets even better, we won't be needing Watkins or anyone else. He is not the one player we need for a Superbowl run so why mortgage your future for some improvement now when you have your 1, 2,and 3 receivers already.

Would love to happen but ot doesn't make sense.

We will have to pay both him and KB at the same time. Juat to get Watkins, we are going to have to give up a lot,  so we pay him. Then what about KB, our 1st rounder? Surely we won't let him walk? However it is not feasible to pay both unless you want to destroy your cap.

So while its all nice to picture KB and Watkins on the same team it doesn't make a any sense, in terms of how much we'll need to give up for him or down the road when both him and KB will need to be paid.

I would trade a first for Watkins in a heartbeat and I think Gettleman would as well.  Not only is he a proven performer, even with the crappy qb's that Buffalo has, he would come relatively cheap in that he is still on his rookie contract, (four million or so a year). If you pick someone in the first, you never know for certain if they can perform at the NFL level until they prove it on the field.  Watkins has proven it.  He would definitely be worth a first.

As far as him wanting the ball, that is most receivers in the NFL.   His only mistake was saying it in public.

But if anyone thinks we would get him for just a first, well I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

    • I think in all honestly, the final 2 games are carrying most of the weight in a lot of Bryce talk IMO.    During the window where he "blew it out of the water" window......were a lot of games where he was not above average.  AZ is largely one of those stat sheet games.   Where the stat sheet reflects QB play that didn't exist in the game.  That game was all Chuba.  Meh vs Dallas.  Meh vs Philly.  Meh vs Giants.  Probably average vs Tampa, Den, Saints.  Bryce made HUGE strides vs what he was.  We should be happy.   But when you start comparing him to the rest of the league.....people I think are going too far.  His best aspect in reality.....is his scrambling.  And that's probably not a great thing give his size.
    • Mays and Zavala looked lost in the Reich offense.  Granted Zalava was probably playing too soon due to injuries but he looked terrible.  This new staff seems to be doing well with our OL.  I also wonder if having two vets in Hunt and Lewis just made life that much easier on whoever was/is playing center.
    • What the Panthers should target in order (via free agency or via trade): 1. Julian Blackmon  2. Mike Hilton 3. Jaire Alexander 4. Jalen Ramsey
