Older fans, who ya got? Olsen or Walls?

For a long long time Walls was considered the barometer as far as TEs go

if only he was thrust into a different generation he would've worked great with Olsen in 2 TE sets

I loved watching Walls growing up.  He really was 6'5" of stick em within 10 yards of the QB.  

 

Really good guy too...I see him out every once in a while.  If it weren't for his name involvement in the the steroid implications back in '03, his name would probably be in the ring inside BoA.

Having said that, I'd still pick Olsen.

I choose Greg Olsen, but it's close. I think WW was meaner, but Greg Olsen is faster and better looking.

Walls is an All-Timer, and Greg is fast approaching.

Who's better?  Doesn't matter, they were both Panthers.

It was fun watching Walls back then and it's fun watching Olson now.

I have to go with Walls. I would love to break down the various positives and negatives of each player but legitimately it just boils down to the fact that I have such a fond memory of Walls and his production/play. If I go with my brain and not my gut, I probably take Olsen but I can't do it. Walls is my guy.

 

Love 'em both, though. There is really no "wrong" answer when you are choosing between the two.

I'll have to go with Wesley Walls. Like you said he was a Homegrown Star and you say that about Olsen too but I can't replace the excitement I receive when he score and caught a difficult pass when I was a Kid

When I was a young pup my high school sweetheart worked at a mini golf place and got mad free tokens with her paycheck to play in the arcade. Of course she gave them to me and I dominated NFL Blitz for two summers. I had the entire top ten scores locked up and destroyed people with the likes of Tim Biakabatuka, Wesley Walls and Patrick Jeffers.

Walls was a 6 year Vet when he came to the Panthers and had a break out year with the Saints the year before we signed him.

For much of Walls' time in Carolina he was a bright light in an abysmal existence for Panther fans. He never matched Olsen's production last year or what I expect from him this year however.

I'll take Newton/Olsen over Beuerlein/Walls any day but appreciate what Walls meant to us in darker days.

Luckily we don't have to choose. They are both Panthers legends. I wouldn't choose a favorite child, I won't choose a favorite Tight End.

I also still have an old #85 jersey hanging in my closet. Having said that, Greg Olsen is one of my top 3 favorite Panthers of all time. For that and all the other reasons mentioned earlier (blocking, speed, etc.), I'll take Olsen and twice on Sundays! Great debate though.

Olsen is the better player, but Walls is a panther legend, and we even share a first name. I am fortunate enough to have a helmet signed by him, greg, and Shockey and it one of my favorite panthers items I own. Due to my him being my childhood favorite panther I have to go Walls

Olsen is already a beast to begin with but the thoughts of him with a stellar WR corps. (hopefully, Funchess, KB and Ginn) would make our passing game as lethal as Cam's legs are.

I remember Walls with New Orleans but didn't realize SF drafted him and had him for 5 season.  (2 injured seasons I assume)
