One word to describe the 2015 Panthers after week 9

Resilient is my first choice.  Undefeated is a good one too.  

We're winning games in spite of a bunch of bullshit.  Injuries?  

  • KB out for the year
  • CJ on IR and Dwan Edwards injured.  Two vets on the D-line that heavily affects the rotation
  • Luke's concussion 
  • Shaq missing games
  • Norwell injured
  • Kalil missed a game

The refs?  fug them.  

  • Hold up, Carolina might put this game out of reach.  Change that spot 46 centimeters.  
  • This week:  That ball isn't secure but that's an interception!  Last week:  That ball hit the ground but that's a catch!  Two weeks ago:  Ted Ginn secures the ball, two steps and get tackled?  Interception or incomplete, no way that's a catch.  
  • Weeks back, OPI on Olsen on a pick play.  The Packers on 4th and goal run a pick where both defenders fell.  No call!
  • "Wow what a cheap shot, that Colts LB just punched Olsen in the mouth.  Good the ref saw it.  Dude will probably get ejected."  Holding, #88 offense.  Mother fuger

Ridiculous momentum swings?  Two years ago we would have folded under these situations.  

  • The Colts come back, force OT, start with the ball and score.  We stop the bleeding, force a turnover and get the win.  
  • 4th and long, Aaron Rodgers proves why he's elite.  A roll out to extend the play with defenders in your face and you throw at the #1 corner in the league and convert it.  Against any other team, that's the back breaker.  That play should have changed everything.  They score on the drive and get the ball right back after the 'interception.'  The defense answers the call and seals the game.   
  • Down 20-7 in Seattle, a team built to play with a lead.  The Seahawks put up 17 unanswered points.  Our response?  Three 80 yard drives for touchdowns.  

If you want to be negative you can say the lack of a four minute offense led to some of these momentum swings.  I can hear the overly negative huddler saying "It's going to burn us one day when we need it the most."  It's a matter of execution and the more you're in that situation the easier it becomes to execute.  Cam and company are already aware of this, and know they have to get better at it.  I have a feeling next week ends with the Panthers offense on the field.  

 

Overall, it's hard not to be positive about this team.  We're far from perfect (except our record), but we are the physical embodiment of keep pounding.

I thought we were going to have another J-No 2-4 defying gravity for a jaw dropping pass break up.  But Rodgers threw a hell of a ball there.

Determined.

 

And one thing that you didn't hear brought up during the game, but it was definitely the case. The Carolina Panthers were playing on a short week, AFTER an overtime win against the Colts. Then we have the Elite NFC Green Bay Packers for the early game on Sunday. Any other team and the announcers would have been banging that drum all broadcast long.

Erect. And ready for insertion into the orifices of all opponents.  That's what I observe when I watch the defense especially.  The guys line up and they all exude the aura that all men exude right before they dive into something sweet.  I can tell.  Even through the tv.

But maybe the best word that describes both this team AND about how I feel about 8-0:

      Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
