Stories like this is why I (along with others I'm sure) get so pissed off when people call him Scan Newton(stupid replacement text)...Esquire or a thug or all that other bullshit the media and racist POS other people say about him...they always want to bring up the towels, or college, and now the stupid sign...

Shows really just how pathetic and petty people are once they get hooked on that narrative/agenda. Since towels and like going on 10 year old transgressions still get more play than his community work.

Cam always does this type of stuff and doesn't get near the credit he deserves for it(not that he would, himself, want the extra attention just for doing what is in his heart to do anyway)

stories like this hit me 10x as hard now that i have a kid. i would die if anything happened to my daughter.

Little Elija kept pounding as long as he could. Even the great Sam Mills showed us that the strongest among us can keep pounding and still lose the battle. I admire little Elijah's heart, and I pray for comfort for his parents.

My sister is a nurse and works for St Jude's. There are so many good success stories. And for no reason, there are stories like this.  There is no way to describe the loss these families feel. However, there is great comfort for any joy given to their child.  Cam could throw 10 td's in a game but it would not come close to what he did for this young man and his family.

Very sad story indeed.  It's nice to have someone like Cam that gives back to the community.  He doesn't have to do it.  

Frankly I don't know if I could do it...the emotional toll that must take to do stuff like this would probably be too much for me.

I just do not understand how ANYONE who knows anything about Cam could think that he is anything other than just a good hearted person that cares about others deeply....especially kids.

We could not win another game and based on stories like this, I would still be proud and honored to call Cam "Our QB and Franchise Player".

Dude is one of the good guys for sure.

I saw that he passed the other day, it's really heartbreaking to see for the family.  I couldn't even imagine how it would feel to lose my son at such a young age.  Kid's like Elijah and Braylon Beam exemplify the mantra of our organization, they could have just given up, but they kept pounding.  RIP Elijah, you're in a better place now.

Thinking about Elijah and the reality of what his parents are going through, and then naturally thinking of my little ones. Fighting this lump in my throat sure helps to put things in perspective.  Praying for strength for the family.

Hope his family is doing okay. At least this kid was able to have that special moment before he passed on.

There are so many more kids like him though, it's difficult to even think about.

It is a sad day here at the school today. We have many counselers on hand to talk to the students. Elijah fought to the very end until his little body couldn't fight anymore. He always believed in "Keep Pounding!" The family has a great support network and they appreciate all the well wishes and prayers!

Truly heart wrenching. It's so sad that Elijah's classmates facing an issue as heavy as their own mortalty at such a young age.
