*IF* the Patriots win tonight *AND* the Panthers win on Thanksgiving...

At what point do we see the NFL do what they can to help two undefeated teams square off in the golden anniversary Super Bowl 50?

I brought this up in another thread but it was already somewhat buried and I'm genuinely curious as to what the Huddle conspiracy theorists think?

I know it's a commonly accepted idea around here that the referees hate the Panthers, which I personally think is BS, but if people really believe notice comes from up high in the offices on Park Avenue to lean towards certain teams winning, do you think with each passing week the NFL would do what they could to try and make a Patriots-Panthers super mega ultra bowl happen?

That would guarantee an undefeated season for someone, would have a rematch from a prior SB, would have Tom Brady perhaps securing his spot as greatest QB ever, and Cam Newton perhaps cementing his spot as one of the best rising stars in the league.

Again, I don't necessarily buy that the NFL has pre-scripted narratives that they like to lean on, but for those that do, what do you think?

The NFL definitely has scripted narratives. They will never admit it, but look at what they've done for the Pats. There are multiple rules created specifically for Tom Brady alone.

I think it starts on Thanksgiving day IF* Pats win tonight. If anyone would recognize it, it would be Panthers fans, that's for sure as we usually historically have gotten the brown end of that stick.

I don't think the NFL wants the Panthers to even sniff SB50. They would rather have the underdog Giants knock off the Patriots once again in the bowl than see that damn Sir Cameron Newton: Leader of Men, Lover of Puppies...Esquire dancing around.

you realize the superbowl the panthers were in was one of the best SB's in history, right?

FIFY, if the All-Pro section is to be believed. ;) which of course it is!

the narrative of the possibility of a Super Bowl rematch with undefeated teams.... ESPN, NFL and just about every network, Vegas would explode with money

This is my thinking. It would be the biggest super bowl of all time bar none.

it's what cemented Dan Morgan as an immortal what he did in that game

This.  One of the best individual defensive performances I've ever seen at any level.  The man was EVERYWHERE in that Super Bowl.  It seemed like he made every Panthers tackle that day.

You can tell the recent Panthers fans because they don't get all dreamy eyed followed by slight sadness when the Morgan's name is mentioned

What does that have to do with anything? You're telling me the NFL would rather risk a small market franchise going to the super bowl than a large market team?

It doesn't matter. The Super Bowl is ratings proof. It'll have over 100 million viewers no matter who is playing. It's not even about the game anymore. The commercials are just as big of an attraction.

    • I feel like we are running out of time on dodging this bullet.  It will be us within 5 years or less imo.
    • Brother, I don't have a clue about what to watch, Ive been victim to too many "reality TV" scams. Bear Grylls was the last straw for me.... wait a second I did watch early pawn stars for about 6 full seasons. That slop 90 Day Fiance, Temptation Island, and marriage at first sight shows should be banned. Total trash that get insane ratings.  The last series I watched with GREAT joy and excitement was the first Dexter series on showtime. They do not make any TV movie slop for me in the last 20 or so years. New Dexter was a complete joke. Besides having one gem hidden each year, example I liked dune..... but Im a Syfy junkie.  Hell recently Im on the wine mom schedule with murder shows Forensic Files, dateline, any murder shows copies. My TV/movies knowledge is 20 years ago when history channel had Modern Marvels, MTV played music videos, and BET had Comic View. My gods do I miss those days... Plus Im on a terrible Habit with YouTube shorts, I need to do better...... Sucks being a old soul in this era.
    • Idk maybe. Guys like Favre, Rodgers, Brees also only having 1 kinda takes the heat off the Colts only getting 1 with Manning. And none of those QBs had to deal with the Pats dynasty or Steelers/Ravens mini-dynasties (no they are not dynasties but both those teams were in the mix pretty much every year in the AFC and both won 2 SBs in Manning’s career). Honestly think if the Manning Colts were in the NFC they’d have won 2-3.   An elite QB is a big deal but you still have to build a team around them. They could’ve been like the Dolphins with Marino.
