Nothing Finer... Panthers, Hornets, & Steph

Steph Curry is in my estimation the most electrifying scorer the NBA has ever seen. Last night, his father was honored by the Charlotte Hornets. Last night Steph dropped 40 points in 3 quarters. For those of us who are both Panthers and Hornets fans, it couldnt get much better. I've been a Panther fan since inception and a Hornet fan since inception. I remember that Dell Curry was my favorite 3 pt shooter.

Alot of us who are Carolina sports fans find ourselves pulling for Steph because he's from Charlotte. He's the greatest thing to come out of NC since Michael Jordan... who of course, as the owner of the Hornets was in attendance. But everything just feels magical right now if you're a Carolina sports fan. Steph Curry is a big time Panther fan... and he and Cam Newton have become in a sense, sports brothers. Both fans of one another. But if we wondered who is a bigger fan of the other, we could assume that Steph is a bigger Panther fan than any Panther is a warrior fan. And although the Hornets lost last night... I've never been happier to see another team beat us. I am a Hornets fan, but I have also been a fan of the Warriors organization since they drafted Steph and later Harrison Barnes.

Last night there were quite a few special moments for the city of Charlotte. Here are a few of those highlights...

Steph and Dad interview...

Steph comes home and goes completely off... (The Hornets are actually looking pretty good this year.)

After the game... Steph Curry gave his game jersey to Carolina's Iron Man, Thomas Davis.

And of course... there was a meeting between two of the most electrifying men in sports. The undefeated swag club. Cam was respectfully sporting a Dell Curry throwback jersey... like a family member. Apparently they were discussing when they could schedule some time to hang out.

When Steph was asked who loses first between them and the Panthers... He responds that the Warriors will lose first." (But not until February.)

I've always believed the colloquial phrase... but the rest of the world now believes that there is nothing finer than to be in Carolina.

(Wanted to give an honorable mention to the Carolina Tar Heels.... and although I am partial to UNC... this remains Panther related for one reason:)

DREAM INTERVIEW:  would be to have Jeremy get Cam and Steph on the Huddle podcast squaring off in a game of connect four... or have them both play a game of Madden/ NBA 2K, playing as the other person. (Thank me later.)

Cam, get in Steph's ear and remind him how great it is to be a star in Charlotte.

We need to have two retired #30 "Curry" jerseys hanging from the rafters...

(I know it is a dream, but I will hope for it until it is 100% not happening.)

Not sure this is ever happening. I think Steph would love to play in Charlotte, but he has something very special with GS. They can really go down as one of the greatest teams in sports history. They are going to pay him big time...

But there may be a shot getting him here later in his career. That could be nice.

Yeah Steph just bought a house in Walnut Creek, the Warriors have extended Klay and extended Green and will extend Barnes after the season and then give Steph a max under the new salary cap.

I'd say right now the odds are 95/5 he stays in Oakland.

But it was definitely cool to watch him with all the Panthers players after the game. That was really tight.

I understand loving the local guy. I understand being in awe of how great he is. I completely get it. However, it's sort of strange that he seems to get more fan support than the home team during the game.

I think the fans were largely pulling for the Hornets... but Steph is getting the type of of respect from other fan bases that Kobe and Lebron got when they went to opposing arenas.

I think its interesting that Steph comes off as very likable even to opposing fans. He gets alot less hate than many of the other stars because of the combination of how likable he is, how family oriented he is and just how amazing some of the stuff he does on the court is. Even if you cant stand him... as a basketball fan he makes you say... "What did I just see?" '

Hornets fans have love for the Curry family and will no doubt get love when he's comes home to Charlotte... but I wouldnt call it a home game for the Warriors either.

this is absolutely amazing. thank you so much for providing all of this. I missed the game last night, but I heard Cam and company were there and was going to research everything this morning, but of course I make my daily morning stop to the huddle and what do you know, it's all here.

I'm a die hard warriors fan, and being a die hard Panthers fan as well has made this season an absolute dream. It's still surreal to watch both of these teams absolutely manhandle their opponents, and I'm hoping both the Warriors and Panthers can bring home championships for their respective clubs and fans.

This should no longer surprise you.  Got questions?  Huddles got dem Answers!

Steph just bought a gazillion dollar house in the bay area over there too. Slim chance to none, but I won't count it out until he inks a new deal with GS.

He also owns a house in Charlotte where he stays during the offseason, so I wouldn't put much stock in that. Honestly, if he wins another ring the next couple years, why not come home? You got your multiple rings elsewhere, just as Lebron did. Does he have a better chance to win even more there than here? Probably. But, he would have already cemented himself as on of the best players of all time. At that point, why not come home to the city you love and continue the Curry legacy. I think it happens.

2017, Curry to Charlotte!

    • My projection. I think at WR its time to go with youth. This means Moore should be the odd man out. Horn can return both punts and kicks and Tremayne is a better WR than Moore. XL gets one more year to prove himself, although I could see a trade in the future which would mean Moore could stay. For OL, I would like us to bring back Brady if we can. The RBs, Trevor can return both punts and kicks too. With the uncertainty of Brooks and Dillon, its hard to choose either one. I think the team would like for Brooks to have a breakout season to clear any uncertainty that he deserves a spot. For now, I have them both even and on the team. DL looks solid as well as OLB. Watch out for the UDFA of Aaron Hall and Isaiah Smith at OLB. They look promising and could knock someone off the team. ILB is still the biggest weakness on the team. We need to upgrade that any means necessary. CB is strong and Im praying to all the Gods that Wheatley beats out Scott at FS.  OFFENSE: WR: Tetairoa McMillan - *Chris Brazzell II* - Brycen Tremayne TE: Tommy Tremble - James Mitchell LT: #Rasheed Walker# - *Monroe Freeling* LG: Damien Lewis C- #Luke Fortner# - *Sam Hecht* RG: Robert Hunt - #Saahdiq Charles# RT: Taylor Moton - #Stone Forsythe# TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - Mitchell Evans WR: Xavier Legette - Jalen Coker - Jimmy Horn Jr. QB: Bryce Young - #Kenny Pickett# RB: Chuba Hubbard - Trevor Etienne - #AJ Dillon# - Jonathon Brooks DEFENSE: LE: Tershawn Wharton - Bobby Brown III  NT: *Lee Hunter* - Cam Jackson RE: Derrick Brown - LaBryan Ray LOLB: Nic Scourton - Patrick Jones II  LILB: Trevin Wallace - Bam Martin-Scott - *Jackson Kuwatch* RILB: #Devin Lloyd# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: #Jaelen Phillips# - Princely Umanmielen LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans RCB: Mike Jackson - *Will Lee III* - Chau Smith-Wade SS: Tre`von Moehrig - Lathan Ransom FS:  Nick Scott - *Zakee Wheatley* - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: Ryan Fitzgerald P/H: Sam Martin KR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. PR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. LS: J.J. • His contract is guaranteed.  Legette is just not where he needs to be mentally.  Not fully invested, it seems.
    • Literally like Hill. He's not QB1 material (now or ever), but if we can turn him into a H-back and use him like  Swiss army knife, that's his ticket to make the roster.  H-back/emergency QB.  I wonder how good his hands are?  If they are at least above average by NFL standards then we can line him up in the backfield, in the slot, split out wide and of course, in the Wildcat.
