Person: Panthers not bringing in Cary Williams

Legitimate question for anyone who remembers: How did Lou Young do in the preseason?  I vaguely remember hearing some good things about him but IIRC, he also gave up some big plays in the preseason too, though.  Could be wrong

Would think the biggest thing about bringing in someone from the outside this late would be their familiarity with the system.  I am surprised there seems to be no interest in bringing back Melvin White.  He played reasonably well.

It's going to be very interesting... I know/hope they don't expect to stop Seattle and Arizona between the hashes with Finnegan. Especially as good as Seattle is at throwing up the seams. Maybe a lot more PT for Shaq? If he plays physical on slot receivers he could disrupt them on the line and give our pass rush plenty of time. Coleman is going to have to keep balling out of control.

We put a safety or LB on the slot receiver and Arizona/Seattle will torch us.

I wonder if Tre Boston will see more playing time with Bene out and especially of we play teams that spread their WR's out.  And Seattle definitely is doing that more it seems the last few games just like AZ.  Boston would inject some more speed and coverage ability in the secondary, even if he's not as good in run support as Harper.  Shaq may some increase- he has the speed to cover TE's in the slot and in tight to the line, but the Panthers like all teams usually put a safety on a TE out wide (of course Harper covering Graham was a disaster), so I don't know that it will be a huge increase for Shaq.

The Finnegan signing is becoming huge right now- hopefully he can play well down the stretch b/c he's going to get a lot of PT.  Still have to do something at CB.  Teddy Williams may be good as ST but I hope we're not planning to depend on him to cover Michael Floyd or John Brown.

Regardless of anything, the pass rush is going to go a long way to determining how far we go in the playoffs.  The pass rush was getting constant pressure yesterday even when we didn't get sacks.
