Do they Flex Tampa to 4:15?

Likely not.

From http://sports.morganwick.com/2015/12/sunday-night-football-flex-scheduling-watch-week-14-6/

  • Tentative game: None (NBC will show game with guaranteed playoff implications).
  • Possible games: Jets-Bills, Raiders-Chiefs, Indians-Cowboys, Vikings-Packers, Colts-Titans, Texans-Jaguars, Seahawks-Cardinals. Unfortunately, no division has more than one realistic wild card contender, and the divisions with the most straightforward straight-up division title games, the NFC North and West, have also all but locked up the two wild card spots between them.
  • Chances of Vikings-Packers: 25 percent. The good news is that this game should be a division title game regardless of the order in which the teams would be in so long as they’re within a game of each other; the Packers have a game in hand while the Vikings should take the division tiebreaker with a win. The bad news is it would take a nearly complete collapse for the loser of this game not to be in line for a wild card spot, and outright impossible for the loser to be guaranteed to be out. It may actually be better if the winner of this game is in line for a first-round bye, even though that could cause a logistical nightmare for the NFL (see the Seahawks-Cardinals section below for what’s facing the NFL if the Cardinals have to host a wild-card game). If this game could just determine home-field for a rematch the following week, or if the loser gets to play the sucky NFC East winner while the winner has to deal with an actually good team, the NFL might actually prefer Bucs-Panthers if the Panthers are still unbeaten. Still, the likelihood of this game being a division title game leads me to peg its chances so high; if the Panthers lose one of their next two this becomes the last-resort option.
  • Chances of Bucs-Panthers: 20 percent. This is basically a last-resort option for the undefeated factor the NFL would only choose if there’s no other attractive options; if the Panthers are still undefeated they’d have nothing else to play for, and there’s an off chance the NFL would prefer this game was simultaneous with other games involving NFC Wild Card contenders. So it says a lot I have the chances for this game being so high; all the other games below are counting on fairly specific circumstances.

I hope not. I want to go to the TB game, but I have an 8:00pm flight back to NYC on 1/3, so a 4:15pm game means I wouldn't be able to go.

the airport is almost literally within walking distance from the stadium. If you leave the stadium at 6:30p, you'll have plenty of time to get to the airport and have a drink at the bar.

NFL games tend to last at least 2.5 hours, so that's 6:45pm. Also, what am I gonna do with my bags? I doubt the league is letting me bring a giant duffel bag and a backpack into the stadium.

Week 17 flexing does not occur until next Monday so that they know the exact playoff scenarios in play. GB and MIN for the division would be the favorite right now, but if GB beats ARI this weekend then GB has a chance at the 2 seed if ARI loses to SEA in week 17 so they will likely want to have GB-MIN and ARI-SEA be on at the same time.

That would open a window where TB-CAR for 16-0 has a good chance at being the SNF game since there don't figure to be any other division/playoff deciding games that are unaffected by other games and they want games where the results elsewhere are a factor to be played at the same time so as not to give one team an advantage. CAR going for 16-0 and TB being out has no affect on any other games and it doesn't affect any other playoff scenarios.

If we are 15-0 then I think at worst it will be a 4:25 game so it can get a more national audience than it would at the 1 PM time slot.

Go to the airport early, check your bags.

Or go to a local hotel and check them with the front desk.

Or have your buddy keep the bags in their car.

Or find a FedEx place and ship your bags home.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
