Cam could join elite company

I know,  there are so many stats out there and some aren't that relevant but this still sounds pretty cool.

Newton has had at least 500 rushing yards, five rushing touchdowns and 5.0 yards per carry in each of his four full NFL seasons, and he has a chance to do it for a fifth time this year.

Only two players in NFL history have rushed for 500 yards, five touchdowns and five yards a carry five times in their careers: Jim Brown and Barry Sanders. Newton can be the third to do it.

I love the way Stewart runs, when he's healthy. Unfortunately, he can't stay healthy for a full season because of it. Rivera should probably use these next 2 games to get Cap and Wegher ready for the playoffs. The Panthers will definitely need one of them, and possibly both to complete this run.

Expecting any one RB to last a full season as the main ball carrier is misplaced hope.

My point here is, Jonathan Stewart not being 100% healthy is a moot point.

This I don't agree with. Cam usually starts out slow, except for the last atl game. Once he gets a good run or a good hit on him...he seems to go into a zone :-)

I'm talking about too much. Half of his 100 yards came in one play early in the game. Can't have the run game burden him. He is human. Moderation is key.

and I do agree that running him early gets him into a groove. But too much is bad, we've seen it before he runs too much he gets winded his throwing suffers. Jstew is so underrated for this entire offense. I have no doubts he will be ready though. The coaching staff knows this and is just being cautious.

Stewart probably only averaged around 20 carries a game before getting injured. If a back can't handle that load, it's hard to consider them a featured back. Plenty of backs handle around 20 carries a game without being injured. Sure, every one has nagging pains this time of the season, but if it's keeping you out of games - multiple games, then it's more than that.

Cam USED to start out slow. He doesn't anymore as he's opened quite sharp recently. Still, he does sharpen up even more when challenged.

He's still starting off slow more times than not, then slowly catching fire over the course of the game.  Of course, there's some exceptions, but it seems to usually be towards the end of the 1st where he finally gets in a rhythm.

    • Seriously? You think we might have 4 or even 5 starters the next couple years from last year’s draft? Wallace and Legette were starters because of injuries and no good depth. We’ve already resigned Thielen and drafted TMac. I’d be shocked if Legette isn’t WR4 (snap/target/production wise) behind those two and Coker. I’m not Sure if Wallace will stay a starter with Rozeboom. Smith-Wade might be the likeliest starter for now because we didn’t draft a CB. We’ll see if he sticks. Sanders may also start but the starting TE is like being the tallest midget. We’ve had about 500ish receiving yards from TEs each of the past 3 years whether it was Thomas/Tremble or Tremble/Hurst or Tremble/Sanders. Honestly, if Evans can stay healthy, the fact that he can actually block (unlike Thomas who sucked but was called a blocking TE) and catch could make him the best starter we have at TE. Also, Brooks missing two of four rookie contract seasons and caused us to draft Etienne in the 4th and sign Dowdle. Sorry man, you’re smoking some serious hopium trying to justify last year’s draft as if it was good. We are one of the worst talented teams in the NFL over the past 7 seasons and sometimes that means that we get a lot of rookie contributors but it doesn’t mean it was a good draft. Until the rookies are actually above average starters it’s like going from Thomas to Tremble to Sanders to Evans. There’s no impact to our win total until one of them actually is more than just a starter because we have to play someone. One last nugget, we won’t be a playoff team if 25% of our starters are from the 2024 draft.
    • At the end of the day his momma should’ve just named him better.  This is some weird sh*t “please everybody please call him this, he asked super nicely”
    • Sure looked that way. That draft room looked like a funeral when the pick was announced and they'd already taken a QB two rounds earlier. Did not seem like a decision made by the folks in that room. Said it during the draft.
