2015 Draft

CAP reminds me a lot like Deshaun Foster. He's a good backup to Stewart and could become our feature back after Stewart's contract is up.

Funchess could be our next Moose and I don't see Dickson going anywhere and will be solid and may even become more valuable than Rosario in his prime.

Corey Brown will replace Cotchery and I'm definitely cool with Corey in the slot.

Shaq is going to be a special LB in time and he has quite the motor to improve as TD's tenure is done.

we need a replacement for Remmers and upgrades from both safety positions and to find immediate help bias draft/FA for coverage backs.

in all honesty, we could become a 3-4 defense until we revamp our DE situation. We've missed not having a DB who can blitz because of having to deploy a zone philosophy just to try and cover our deficiency's in pass defense.

We have to address drafting a replacement for Tolbert and that won't be easy, so now would be the time to draft a bruiser who can, run, block and catch...which will not be an easy task because Tolbert is our Swiss Army knife.

this next draft will be a huge one in terms of adding future starters that can be called upon for any situation.

You don't just become a 3-4 defense overnight... Our lbs are way to small for that...

Every comparison of Devin to KB should include the age difference.  Devin may not ever be as good as KB, which is obviously no slight.  He may actually become better.  At the very least they will be nasty together.

When KB was 21 he had one fewer catch, one fewer TD, and 22 more yards...for Florida State in the ACC, than Devin did this year on our historically good NFC team.

2 WRs...

One to replace the diminutive, weak Philly Brown who can't catch unless he jumps and another one to push Ginn down to the 3rd option. I need to see Kelvin Benjamin last a full season at this point before I believe it's possible based on the position that he plays and his unusual body type for a WR (super tall, but most of that height being in his legs since he is much more compact from the waist up).

...I'm usually the guy who argues against obsessing over drafting WRs because the NFL isn't "Madden," but that is clearly the weakest link on THIS team RIGHT NOW. Funchess can be good, Ginn can be a good 3rd or 4th WR, and if Kelvin Benjamin can overcome his injury (a big "IF"), he could be good, so they clearly need two more.

I know the running joke was us getting picked to choose a TE every year by the experts but I could see us actually going that route this year if the right guy is available.  I mean, think how devastating to our offense it would be to lose Olsen because we've got absolutely nobody backing him up that can produce even a fraction of what he does.

Not quite sure what you are speaking about. This is complimentary as LaFell was more productive than Funchess while getting up to speed with Clausen in 2010 and a rookie Cam Newton in 2011. I was expecting people to say he has not achieved the same level as LaFell in his rookie season. LaFell battled through the drops and so has Funchess. Both have similar playing styles.

LaFell was never and will never be a #1. He is a solid #2 option. Not sure where the heart issue comes from. LaFell had issues with hands and mental mistakes. Do you think the Patriots would have grabbed LaFell to win a Super Bowl if he had issues with his heart to play?

Point is we should expect the same from Funchess. He will be paired #2 with KB and could slip to a #3 if his hands and mental errors continue to show up. Nothing from Funchess would lead you to believe he could be the #1 and scare a defense.

From what I've seen, it looks like the same things that Lafell struggled with here is beginning to happen with the Patriots.

Not sure what the ceiling ultimately is for Funchess honestly. I'm just enjoying seeing him develop.

Shaq, Mayo, Williams and CAP are all four picks that were used for the future. Shaq to replace Davis, Mayo to replace Klein, Williams to replace Oher (at the time) and CAP to work into the #2 role. Funchess' growth was stunted by the need for him to learn different positions.

Williams will replace Remmers. Williams isn't a left tackle.

Hopefully in spring we're talking about who we're taking with the 32nd pick!

Well there will only be 31 first round picks because Pats lost there's. But I agree. I hope we beat the Pats so bad in the Super Bowl they feel sorry for them and give it back. I'd gladly take pick 32. Haha!

Agree with the posters pointing out the '15 draft was more about '16, '17 and beyond.

As for the '16 draft, I think we will see some of the same, though the players will be counted upon to contribute in '16 to improve our weaknesses.

Hard to pinpoint what we do because we will have a bit more $$ in FA, but I doubt DG goes crazy.

For me, I think DE, SS, CB are the big 3 that we go BPA at in rounds 1-3. I do think we need to grab an OT to push Remmers and/or take over for Oher down the line. I hope there's a Tyler Lockett kind of WR in the 4th/5th that we could snag to come in and ignite our KR/PR unit, and be groomed to take over for Ginn. I think Brown has promise, but a nice speedy/shifty slot WR to have as insurance for Brown would be a luxury that would be nice to have in the back pocket.

Please don't do that.

Unlike Lafell, who publicly shunned the responsibility of being a focal point in our offense, Funchess has embraced his role already as a rookie. It took him time to get up to speed with Cam obviously, but he has the talent, and the willingness to do what he has to for our offense. That was Lafell's problem, he had the talent, he just didn't have the heart to pair it with.

Don't mind him. He's still desperately reaching for ways to say that Gettleman isn't better than Hurney.

If we win the Super Bowl this year I'm sure he'll downplay the role of Gettleman's players in that too.
