They did this to promote their OC so they wouldn't lose him, who actually made Winston look really good.  This is not a Cleveland Browns situation; defensive minded coach couldn't put together anything close resembling a top 10 defense, in fact they were 26th in points per game given up this year.  I laugh at the Buccs like any other Panther fan but I think they made a good move here, Lovie is not a coach that can get them where they want to be.

I figured he would get one more season, but I'm not terribly surprised they went ahead with it now.

Lovie has been losing a poo ton of games at the end of the season going back to when he coached the Bears.

I actually do think the reason behind this firing was because Koetter was getting a decent amount of HC offers, and the Bucs decided to keep him at the expense of Lovie. cant blame him.

Yup, let's not forget the Buccs were 6-6 before cratering again this season.  Even when we were finishing under .500 Rivera always, and still does, have his teams dominating toward the end of the season.  19-5 last month of regular season for Coach Ron, Lovie not so much.
