I highly doubt Clemson has thrived off of doubt, they played the shitty ACC.  Then played a less talented OU team in the trenches and beat them soundly in the 2nd half.  Sometimes it's better to be lucky, I suppose.

Sure they have.  They have bluntly expressed.  You know, Dabo likes to talk about that.  We ain't talking about ACC respect but national respect and Clemson despite being #1 has been backhanded all season.

Clemson was #1 and most of the nation viewed as a technicality.  They technically deserved it and would get beat.   They were more than a 7pt dog to the #4 team in the opening round.  Again, now we are at the championship and the #1 team again....still a 7 pt dog.

So the #1 team in the nation.....in both rounds of the college playoffs is a 7 pt underdog and that is after stomping their opening round team.

Hell, Dabo still had to address "Clemsoning" this year in media.  Which is absurd if you actually look at what he program has done.

So yes, Clemson has THRIVED and embraced the disrespect card and will be playing up until Monday night.

and yes, if Seattle thumps the Vikings....the vegas line will be something Carolina ( the worst 15-1, worst 14-0, worst 10-0, etc team) can use.

It's easy to play it safe and pick the Seahawks or the Patriots, they've both had recent success winning the big game and they have playoff experience.  However, we finally have a team that can hang with and beat any team in the league.  If we want respect from the talking heads, we have to earn it by beating those bastards and serving up some delicious crow to all the doubters.

I think losing to the Falcons showed our guys that we can't just show up and expect to win.  We probably needed a wake up call and got it at the right time.....it's our destiny my friends.  This is our time, it's our season, it is written and has been fortold unto me.

"Care not, in the opinion of the unbelievers.....Cast your eyes upon the Father of Chosen and believeth in him, for he shall deliever unto us a Championship."

This was also fortold unto me....

"Take heart and have faith, for the defense of destiny shall be unleashed upon thine opponents.  They will protect thine endzone with furious anger and show no mercy upon thine enemy.  The unbelievers shall be crushed, their eyes will opened for all to see as thy defense takes vengeance upon anyone who stands before them.......the glow of the Lombardi will shine upon them and all opponents will say - to the Panthers belong the glory."

Trust and believe......

Most sports writers don't watch the Panthers beyond a few highlights. Most non-Panther fans have seen maybe part of one or two Panther games this season, and some highlights on Sportscenter. We fans know 10 times what most sports writers know about the Panthers, and non-Panthers fans, especially out of conference fans, know next to nothing. Just as an example, sports writers were picking us to lose to the Jaguars, and other terrible teams. For all they knew we were terrible. They had no fuging idea, so they took a wild guess based on what little they knew. They don't get punished or fired for not knowing about the Panthers. They're allowed to not follow our team all season, and then make bogus predictions. That's acceptable behavior for a sports writer. In any other profession you would be fired for not doing your job. For not watching the Panthers, and then making incorrect comments and predictions. Not in sports writing. You can be wrong 90% or of the time, and just make things up, and keep your job until retirement. It's insane. No standards.

I just disagree with that, they were favored in every ACC game.  Including by 10+ against UNC.  Just because two other teams were favored.  Both coming off huge wins, and beating much tougher competition.  Doesn't mean Clemson is disrespected.

Hell, Watson was invited to the Heisman trophy celebration.  Which he much deserved.  Now Carolina on the other hand?  Yeah, total disrespect.  Seattle had a losing record when Carolina played them and Seattle was favored?  Dallas had 3 wins and were favored?  That's lack of respect.  And Clemsoning is a thing in almost every College Football fans eyes.  They've done it wayyyyyyyyyy too long, that's why he was asked about it earlier in the year.  And of course he got mad about it.  What coach wouldn't?

again, you keep talking about ACC play.  I am talking national respect.

I'm talking about playing the disrespect card.  Dabo and Clemson play and have played it hard this year.  Doesn't always have to be real disrespect....teams/coaches flat out use it as a tool regardless.  I'm just saying you can't argue that Dabo isn't and hasn't used it....b/c he bluntly has said it.

so yeah, if you are the #1 team in the nation for weeks heading into the college playoffs......and every game you are at least a 7 pt dog.  You better believe a coach like Dabo is going to play that card harder than anyone has tried to play it.

and case in point....you just brought up "Clemsoning" actually being a thing and justified.  Dabo exploded on the dude who foolishly uttered it.  It would be on par for bashing Ron Rivera for what John Fox did.   Check Clemson's record under Dabo....and tell me anyone in the country has the right to bring up "Clemsoning" to him.

If you don't think Clemson is disrespected, then you really can't say Carolina is.....b/c it is really identical.  Clemson is a 7 pt dog in all college playoff games for the same reason Carolina likely is a opening line dog or push vs Seattle if they blow out the Vikes.

I don't think this whining is worth a new post on it's own, so as far as "the trend continues" the latest Shek Report v/podcast was mostly about Super Bowl Contenders and the lack of whatever-you-want-to-call-it really got my goat.

In a 10 minute (guessing) conversation about the toughest team in the NFC the ONLY Panther mentions were:
- when discussing Green Bay's issues there was a remark that Carolina would be favoured due to the fact we have a running game and Green Bay are not set up to stop the run.
- an indirect comment about "the 15-1 and 14-2 teams" and the pressure of expectations or "s'pposedtah".

That was it.

The rest was about whether Arizona was still the strongest team in the NFC or whether after the week 17 win it's now the 6 seed Seahawks.

When they got to talking about who was going to win the Superbowl the discussion became about the fact there wasn't a team in the AFC who could beat us, Arizona or Seattle.
THEN there was a brief discussion about how much losing two corners will hurt our defence. Ike Whatshisname's response was:
"Not too much because they've still got Cam. You have to look at Cam like Brady, as long as he's playing they've still got a chance." "What's the story of the Carolina defense? The front seven and the linebackers. So there you go, you got Luke, err... Davis Jr, who's the other kid? Shaq Thompson. Them three guys are the key to your defense. You know what I'm saying? Your front four are beasts, but that Linebacking corp? That's the strength to your team other than Cam Newton. Yeah, we going to talk about Greg and what he's been doing, he's a Pro Bowl Corner, but don't get it twisted man, that core? that strength? is their linebacking crew."

(There was also later an aside about the fact that we've been without KB and we're getting Stewart back after a couple of weeks off.)

That bit of preseason analysis (with a very strong compliment for Cam) was EVERYTHING we got in a 30 minute show about Super Bowl Contenders.

And then dicks in the media like Sanders and Irvin turn around and make fun of Riverboat mentioning in a presser that no body's picking us as if it's all in his mind.

This stuff shouldn't bother me but it does

But we just have to go out to prove it again and again.

Fine by me.  I'll take all the chips on our shoulders.

It doesn't bother me as a fan because I know these pundits opinions don't count for anything when you really get down to it.

If their lack of knowledge or respect for the Panthers fuels the players to prove them wrong all the better.

I suspect many of these same pundits will consider the Panthers the luckiest team to have ever won a Super Bowl rather than a team that earned the title through hard work and talent.

Just more fuel to go for two in a row...

and then three.

Eventually even the slowest of pundits will catch on.
