What's up with practicing in ballrooms?

Seems like just a regular steel shelter over one of them would not be expensive and much larger than a ballroom. 

 

Maybe it is a zoning thing? There are townhomes near.

what if they just made one field synthetuc turf? can practice in the elements to prepare for gameday. also, it wouldnt hurt to practice on that feild when we are preparing to play in a dome..?? makes sense to me

The field closest to the gate is artificial turf

Artificial turf is actually more dangerous than grass in many cases.  I don't see what the point would be to just add a turf field.  Might as well go all the way and cover it.
