We win the SB, does C.J call it a night?

Some food for thought. Every players ultimate goal is to get the 'ring'. According to Jeremy, CJ has, been playing through pain all year (ever since that leg whip, there has been a decline). He is coming towards the age (in football years), where the body doesn't heal fast and skills start to fade. He is a rich man and seems to be a family man also. Having reached the ultimate goal, might he hang it up?

I believe Allen would probably retire if he gets his ring and hang out in the woods, do what he loves. D G would have to fill the void through the draft/FA. Opinions?

What would be left to achieve? Part of a 15-1 regular season and a SB ring is something that might night happen again for years (if ever). I have read that he is planning to open restaurants in Georgia, so he has a plan. Why not go out on a high note?

Because he still has a ton of money coming his way regardless, and there are teams desperate enough for a pass rush that someone will throw a contract his way.

I could easily see him on the Falcons next season.

He isnt leaving Carolina. Money may talk but players usually dont leave here til they are cut and have to leave. The last player that I recall leaving for a better contract was Julius Peppers. The brotherhood we have is too good. We are loyal to our players and players usually will restructure and want to have fun with this team then leave to go to cleveland and deal with the stress. He will restructure and play 2 more years and free up money for Norman and Short. Tolbert will sign another 1 year deal. This team is having too much fun right now. So much fun steve smith is posting pictures with him being a panther cause he misses it so much.

Maybe your'e talking last superstar, but Mitchell, Munnerlyn, and Ginn all left for more money (though Ginn came back). Not exactly a valid comparison though since Hurney overpaid players and they got better deals in Carolina than they would have received somewhere else. Give it another year or two, when the younger guys like Klein and Boston are making decisions to see what happens.

Better question would be what does TD do?

Thomas has given everything to this team, so much so that he's playing in the Super Bowl with a broken arm.

Based on all his charity work he's definitely got plans for retirement.

Walking off into the sunset if we win the Super Bowl means that he can have a post football life without anymore devastating injuries to deal with in old age.

TD will be here for another 2 years. He missed 3 years due to his ACL tears. You'll be surprised how not playing football has preserved him. He's 32 now.... he can still play... as long as he doesnt get injured.

Are we talking the night after the Super Bowl or Super Bowl night? There's a huge difference.

Worry about that bridge when we cross it

Yeah, was kinda thinking the same thing. Why think about the off-season, what are we, everybody but Denver?

I wouldnt say that it's a foregone conclusion that CJ is gone...

But he's definitely not retiring. There's still money out there for him to make. And as long as any of those other 31 teams sees a value in him... He's not going anywhere.

It's a given that especially if we win, Allen and Tillman will retire.  Maybe Dwan Edwards, Roman Harper, and the biggest surprise retirement might even be Ryan Kalil.  This is a special year, and there's no question 2016 will be a much different Panthers team.

    • Would Morgan or Beason have been HOFers' if injuries hadn't derailed their careers?  I was not a close watcher of the game when Morgan was in his prime but I thought Beason had a few seasons at close to Lukes' level of play.
    • Franchise QBs feast when things are rolling and the tide that raises boats when things are going sideways.  Bryce isn't that. He's a complimentary player, that's it.  When the defense and STs are on point, he plays loose and it shows.  When we are in a dog fight and things haven't gone our way, he struggles.  It's that simple. He's not a horrible QB, but he's not top tier either.  So the question begs, is this worthy of a second contract?  The answer should be no.  It definitely is my answer. Bryce will never be a QB that can produce wins largely on his arm.  That's a FRANCHISE QB, any other QB is simply a placeholder at the starter's position until that guy can be found.   At some point the excuses of lack of weapons will be a straw man.  Heck, it's nearly there now.  I mean if he doesn't look even better than last year will we blame it on the TE position?  'Well if Bryce only had a player like Kelce, Kittle or Gronk on this team...'  Are we really going to do that?
    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
