So, I Found The Reporter That Tried To Start A Controversy With Cam

His name is Jerry Sullivan and he is a reporter from the Buffalo News.

He wrote an article about his exchange with Cam.

Quote

“I don’t even want to touch on the topic of black quarterback,” Newton said, “because I think this game is bigger than black, white or even green. So I think we limit ourselves when we just label ourselves as this and that. I wanted to bring awareness because of that. But yeah, I don’t think I should be labeled just a black quarterback, because there’s bigger things in this sport that need to be accomplished.”

I jumped in and asked Newton why he couldn’t elaborate on his words from a week earlier. Did he believe there’s still somewhat of a stereotype that says black, mobile quarterbacks cannot throw in the pocket effectively?

“We shattered that a long time ago,” he said, a sheepish smile on his face.

Jerry Sullivan is lying about the fact that he asked Cam to elaborate. He actually told him to "back it up" as if Cam had to prove something to him. He is also being called out on twitter for his actions towards Cam.

I stopped watching those evening ESPN shows for years because they were insufferable. Then I found it on one day and Bomani Jones was on.

Love that guy. Totally makes that whole half anhour block tolerable if there's nothing else on.

    • Yeah, honestly being a long-term backup is at least as much about being a good lockerroom presence and accepting your role as a supporting piece and not being a greasy wheel as much as it does about ability. Backup QB requires a completely different mindset than the starter and some guys just can't make that switch. It doesn't make them bad guys or locker room cancers or anything like that, it just makes them not what you're looking for in a long-term backup. You bring in that type of guy to compete. You don't bring in that type of guy if you're not looking for competition.
    • Im saying its Tar Heel fans who would do that. I root for all Panthers to succeed regardless but college affiliation means zero to me
    • We have some good pieces.  Enough to be competitive week to week.  Coaching seems to be improving but they’ve made it much harder on themselves than needed.  There are very good reasons to be optimistic about the future. However, I don’t trust them yet.  Wins are odd looking and mostly ugly.  Our opponents have to have a bad day for us to hang with them.  A lot of that is because we still haven’t figured out the most important position and will continue until it’s solved. I think Morgan has done a nice job in both the draft and FA so far.  He’s getting better each day he’s in that position. As far as the players listed, I’m pretty much in agreement.  XL and Bryce are not performing the way they should at this point.  I will say XL could see more success in a vertical passing attack to better utilize his speed. And as always, Fug Tepper.
