So, I Found The Reporter That Tried To Start A Controversy With Cam

I moved from western New York 14 years ago and I know of Jerry Sullivan very well. I am a Buffalo Sabres hockey fan and as a result follow the sports happenings from western New York. Jerry Sullivan makes a career of trying to create controversy and his negativity towards athletes, management and ownership is always over the top. He is not very well liked by sports fans of western New York.

It does not surprise me one bit that he is stirring the pot. I will never read any of his stuff because he never has anything positive to say. Why he still has a job is beyond me.

How do these people get jobs. Being a reporter and fishing for story lines and asking dumb questions is one thing--hell, that's what the SB is about! JB Smoove asked Cam who dabs first in the bedroom. He's a comedian, but still the SB brings crazy questions. BUT it's another thing entirely when someone loses his cool and is just a dickhead about it. How'd that guy get a press pass?

No he wasn't.

Cam doesn't have to prove what he meant and "back it up" to anyone.

Jerry Sullivan knew what Cam Newton meant by his comments.

Yes, he was. It is a reporter's job to get down to the bottom of things rather you or anyone else likes it or not. If you make a statement, it's not unheard of for someone to ask you to "back it up" or elaborate.

I am not going to assume that Sullivan understood what Cam meant meant, but even if he did, there are plenty of people across this country who may not have known what Cam meant, so asking him to elaborate was not out of order.

Well, when he says "back it up" to the man and then later claims he asked him to "ellaborate"

That is a bit disingenuous.

"Back it up" is a hostile term used in debates.

I don't have a problem with him asking cam to back it up, as long as that is what he reports as to what the question was. CHanging the question but not Cam's reaction.... bad reporting.

He was saying and asking anything he could think of to try to get Cam to say something that'll make headlines. That's what his job is, selling stories. Cam doesn't have to "back it up" and he didn't. That doesn't mean the guy isn't allowed to ask him to back it up if he thinks that'll get a response from Cam that people will be interested in hearing. This whole thing is a non-story. "Reporter trying to do job, NFL player won't budge" is really all it is and it happens all the time with media.
