Mike Shula: "Cam wasn't good enough". Probably because you called a horrible game, Shula.

He insulted the messiah.  This board has fractured into a Cam Newton fan forum.  Panthers fans are merely guests here.

Ok help us out. Under the circumstances Cam was in last night, what could he have done better? Our protection was poo against the no.1 defense, slow developing pass plays, tight d on the wrs, bad calls and when he does make good throws, the wrs drop half or tip one up for an int? You're Cam. How do you overcome this?

#WadePhillips over #MikeShula: “They did everything that we saw on film,” Marshall said. “That’s the crazy thing. Nothing new.” #SuperBowl

That's completely wrong, during the regular season we didn't run off tackle/guard every first down play!

Also, we never "got cute" with a backwards pass to Ted Ginn who was then supposed to throw it to Cam, but since Cam was covered we ate a 5 yard loss.

These are two examples of that statement being completely false.

i actually didn't mind the game plan. running up the gut is the best way to negate those defensive ends. we ran plenty of play action too.

cam deserves criticism for his average play. he didn't play like an MVP. ted ginn deserves criticism for his average play. philly brown deserves criticism for dropping catchable balls. the refs deserve criticism for blowing calls. tolbert deserves criticism for putting the ball on the ground at critical times.

team loss all the way around.

I didn't mind it either.  Running the ball is what we do.  We do it well.  What I do mind is the refusal to adapt.  Broncos players are being quoted as saying they knew exactly what we were gonna do.  It was TOTAL offensive collapse. But Shula's unaltered, stubborn gameplan was the cracked foundation upon which the offense faltered.

Maybe I should be directing my ire at Shula's late 2nd quarter and second half game plan.

The tape will not lie

the oline schemes handled

the protections and play calling for a team as fast as Denver just baffling

plays that were there to be made weren't

personnel handled in oline. Terrible by them

dollar general Dave needs to move up two classes in personnel if panthers are to complete

As far as Cam goes  he is a QB  not Ghandi   He needs to own himself  I have no thoughts or comments in his behavior at all   He is a 26 year old man  we all answer for ourselves at that age

This.  Jesus Christ, this.

The offense was bad, top to bottom.  Cam was as bad as his receivers were as bad as their O-line was as bad as its running backs were as bad as their coordinator.  No one gets a pass when everyone did a bad job.

I am not trying to give Cam a pass.  I said in my post that Cam played poorly.  But you can't argue that it starts with coaching.  Coaches are suppose to put the players in the best position to execute.  Players are suppose to execute.  Shula with his run on first down every time, did not set Cam up to execute effectively.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
