Snakebit, bad decisions and betrayal

OK,  I'm probably gonna say some things that others have said - but this was simply being snakebit and bad decisions.

Cam hit enough recievers to move the ball - however, he can't catch it for them.  Cotchery beats Von Miller and drops a spot on pass inside the 5.  Gin is covered across the middle - but the ball is spot on - skips thru his hands and is intercepted.  Tolbert bowls along for 10+ yds and fumbles the ball.  Gano misses a very makeable FG.  ST misses tackles (why - no idea) 61 yd punt return.  Completed pass that's called incomplete.  Snakebit, snakebit, snakebit  just spiraled away.

Kony Ealy - simply came to play - but SOMEHOW NOT on the field as much as he should have been.  2 sacks, 1 FF, 1 Int.  From both sides!

Sticking with ineffective runs for 1 yd - Cam rushed 6 times for 45 yds in the 1st half - why go away from that?  Stewart broke a long run inside of Ware on a draw - that works on big time edge rushers - why go away from that?  Fozzy has big gain on the inside option pitch out - never saw it again.

Its the SB, find what works and ride it till it don't work no more - its not like Denvers Offense was a powerhouse - this was not a shoot out.  Ride the working plays till they find a way to stop it.

Bad decisions by some coaches - and bad decision by the HC to not step in and over rule a bad OC game plan.

yea Cam lost 2 fumbles that = 14pts.  But Cam is the QB, he is not the OT, WR or the OC/DC.  I kinda feel like he has a right to be bitter

I don't see how you can look at others and ignore that those two fumbles literally handed Denver the game. If he simply tucks the ball and we punt we could have been leading at half. There was plenty of blame on the offensive side but the defense should have been the ones to be bitter not Cam. He was responsible for four turnovers three of which were on him. Feel free to toss around the blame but let's not ignore the huge elephant in the room.

Not ignoring it -  yes, he could have tucked it - but that does not happen to begin with if the play calling slows down the edge rusher.  Either thru helping the OT with chipping, draw plays or play action.  I seem to recall a play where Cam went under center, play actioned and completed the pass.  I recall another time he went under center and Stew ran for like 7 yds over left side.  Only 2 times I saw this used - both successful.

If the shotgun/option hand off is not working, you have to do what is working.

IMHO, I'd say our offensive coordinator and oline coach had little awareness of how to counter Denver.

whats that you say, Remmers can handle speed rushes by himself?

I know, how about the same up the middle play on every first down. Yeah, that'll work

Wait if that doesn't work, I know, let's do a lateral against the fastest d in game and

better still, how about those long developing pass plays

it was a horrifically bad offensive game plan and thePanthers paid for it and anybody who thinks all those little extra hits on Newton didn't take a toll, not informed

this game was lost AS A TEAM.

our loss was mental. we were mentally beat and that carried on over to the score.

we played plaxico burress-ball....we shot ourselves in the leg.

the good thing is, we can get it right and we will.

remember, we went into this season less than full strength...not just without our #1 WR, and with a rag tag group of scrub WRs and a promising rookie, but a very young team...OGs and a RG with very limited starting experience and a reclamation LT project and a secondary that was kind of sketchy with a few old guys in the mix.

this year we played ball the way we had been hoping to. we were dominant and physical. cam got experience and confidence really leading this offense and spreading the ball around in a very impressive way to receivers that kept crisco on their hands (even though that improved somewhat over the year).

next year we can come out with confidence and a bit of fire that was lacking at the beginning. they now KNOW what they are capable of. they haven't just seen it, they've tasted and had their hands on it before it got ripped away.

next year they come back and take what should have been theirs.

strictly on wr's and rb, even if cam is sack 6 times we still could have won the game by 10 or 13, it's simple the offesne needs more leaders, and that's nothing against cam but look at the leaders on d compared to the ones on O.....we have no wr that's going to go up to that unit and simple say "no more drops guys let's get it done", no o line that's going to say "were getting our ass kicked, we need to get our poo together and block and no more false starts" , no rb that's going to step up and say "we gotta get it done hold on to the damn ball and let's make some plays" the offense as a unit had no urgency or accountability.

Shula called a good game, if the team doesn't play the worst football game of there lives offensively and on special teams we win by 7 or 10.

You don't blame the QB for a strip-sack when your LT is abused by the defender, allowing a free hit to the QB's blindside.

Sure you do when he is 6" 5" and 250 and strong as an ox. He had the ball tucked and Miller ripped it out. It wasnt as if he got blindsided.

I can count 3 late hits, a knee to the head after the play, a knee driven into Cam's knee after a play, and a club to the face of Newton all in the first half. The refs saw none of this. I wish the Panthers did this to Peyton Manning to see if the refs would have called it then.

Newton was allowed to be illegally hit all game.

That plus the poor max pass pro set up by Shula would have made any QB look bad.

    • What?!?!?! Chark's 1,000 yard season was 4 years before he played for us and he only had 525 yards in 15 games as our #1 WR.  Dude has 3,100 yards in 7 seasons, he's the literal definition of a JAG and you think he is better than half our current WR room? T-Mac is literally already better than Chark was at his peak, which again, was years before he ever even put on a Panthers uniform, and there is a real argument to be made that XL and Coker were both better as rookies than Chark was for us in his one season here.
    • Im glad we're starting low. It's nonsensical to put us at 28 IMHO based on objective things IMHO (I think 21-24) is far more appropriate but whatever. Washington was at the bottom last year FWIW.  In 2003, Sports Illustrated said our best chance to win the division was to transfer to the ACC. In 2015, everyone wrote us off as a team that snuck into the playoffs with a losing record in 2014 and lost our best WR in TC (Kelvin Benjamin). All these videos are fodder for conversation, but this prediction has no more validity than saying the Panthers are making the SB bc we're starting the season against the Jaguars again. If Bryce plays like he did down the stretch we will end up the season just fine. This roster is much better than it has been the last 2 seasons. No one knows who any season will ultimately end up, but this team is finally being built in the right way, and the idea that this roster can't compete this year is as insane as being it was when we were gaslit in 2023 that we were a rookie QB from winning the division with that roster.
