Free agency not the draft will be the key this off season

its time to start cashing over money in free agency and stop dollar store shopping.

Lets look at the last 4 SB winners, Broncos built almost entirely through FA, Patriots brought in Revis, Browner and Amendola, Seahawks brought in Harvin, Bennett and Avril, Ravens had Boldin.

We can't rely on and expect rookies to come in and contribute right away on a Superbowl caliber team.

Alshon Jeffery.  And yes Im well aware we have Funchess and KB next year this guy could take it to the next level with our WR play.

we have to pay KK, Star, and at the least the franchise tag for Josh- no way we are signing Alshon unless he forgets who he is and signs at a ridiculous cheap contract - not happening

Sometimes the allure of winning the Lombardi a very real possibility can change peoples minds on how they want to be paid.  Not saying we are getting a discount, but perhaps a team friendly deal the first year and backload the contract?

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
