There has been an awakening...

I proudly admit I am a nerd so in my contemplation for how to describe where I think my football team stands going forward from a complete ass whipping in the Superbowl, I am more than happy to quote Star Wars.

"Do you feel it?  There has been an awakening..."

I joined this joint in the Summer of 2003 (lucky me right). We all know how that season went and I distinctly remember the 04 and 05 seasons...06 and 07 were basically bullshit then 2008 happened and I said something along the lines of: "it could be half a decade before this team rebounds from this" sometimes I hate to be right...

Lets be honest, this fanbase has been (generally speaking) a bunch of preteen poo stains for pretty much the entire existance of the franchise. We held no real home field advantage until playoffs and the crowds didn't exactly have a "rowdy" feel to them. The team, also had the "edge" of lightly toasted bread. For example:

"We had a bad day to have a bad day" John Fox
"got jake" t-shirts thrown in the gutter after we got Farved in 2005 and smitty broke his damn leg

That bullshit is pretty much gone.

Look at this poo right here:

I was at that game, I thought the fuging stadium was going to fall down.

This year, it was even better

Thats fuging fanfest...
So the first step I would argue is complete.
Fan base now has a set of balls.

Next, Our team, coaches and Players carried themselves like pussies.

Admit it, you know its true. Soon as Hurney gave out that stupid money half the roster just started collecting checks and developed me first attitudes.
Sure some of the guys still cared, but they were brushed aside.
Then we lost to the Buffalo Bills and....things started changing again.
Ron Rivera stopped reading Coaching books.
Marty Hurney got fired the the Gettlemaster arrived.

All of that led us to 2015.

Make no mistake, this was the greatest season in Panthers history.
MVP QB
Coach of the Year
Best record in NFC history.
We have possibly the best in the League:
LB corps
DT combo
Interior OL (GCG)
QB/RB combo
Our Salary Cap is on the mend.
Our stars are locked up for 5 yars
Our fan base has fire again, our team has fire again, and we are all quite pissed off.

Charlotte sent a message this week,

The fug you NFL Tour kicks off...August 2016

Cam is going to fug the entire nfl up up next year, and put a super hurting on anyone he's playing against.

I strongly fee dabbing and smiling Cam may be gone, and mean faced stone cold Cam may be here to light up and destroy everything in his path.

I can see this man putting in extremely intense and obsessive work, holding his teammates extremely accountable and mauling the opponents who dare face him next year.

Cam is at his best when he's smiling and dancing. Cam had the same look on his face Sunday that he did for most of the Falcons game in week 16.

    • I’m seeing this from a slightly different angle. Yes, this is about the Panthers turning over the sofa cushions to find a warm body at QB, but: I see the perfect opportunity to unload Bryce and sell at the peak of his market value, whatever that is. His injury isn’t scary enough to really turn him off from a team needing a backup QB. He will likely recover from this with no major long term deficit. He has shown that games still can be won with him as long he is surrounded by high level talent. This is the prime opportunity to offload the albatross. If they can just get a late round pick and get a team to agree to pick up his contract, that will be huge. Use the next few weeks to wait for a contender to lose their starting QB (happens every year) and then make them an offer they can’t refuse.  What does continuing roll with him at this point accomplish? It’s a bit like not offloading Burns early.  The longer the Panthers hold on to BY, the worse the leverage they will have when the 11th hour strikes. BY is a career backup who will become increasingly more expensive as the season progresses. Why keep him around any longer than you have to? This team will win 5-6 games this season so highly unlikely that they’re looking at a top 10 pick, so he’s not really helping in that regard. Everybody can see that he has clearly reached his ceiling so a longer audition is not necessary… so why keep holding on to the dude? What if it REALLY gets weird and they find away to cobble together 7-8 wins? I know, very unlikely but they still play NO twice and have always played TB close. The defense can stop the run and the offense can run the ball. It’s the age old recipe for winning football games. Then what? Will Tepper let Dan exile his golden boy at that point, or will the final nail in the coffin be struck when he ‘suggests’ signing BY long term, since the team is winning and all? Tepp is going to be the ONLY one who signs off on shipping his golden boy. Tepp hates admitting he was wrong, but I bet he hates losing even more. The WORST thing that could happen is to see the team start winning with BY under center. I pray to God Andy comes in hot and shows how bad BY is holding everything back.
    • My friends that are jets fans remember him fondly in the sense that he had a Linsanity type of run for a very short period of time, and they all preferred him to Zach Wilson. But he was extremely injury prone and once defenses got tape on him it ended badly.
