Also, can anyone read this article, with all of its backroom dealings and still think it's unfathomable that there might be game-fixing and other sketchy stuff going on in the NFL?.

Im an active user here, but made a throwaway to avoid being labeled a conspiracy theorist. That being said, someone sent this link. I'm not saying I necessarily believe the guy, but the fact that it was posted Dec 7th, and he predicts Panthers/Broncos, as well as a "scandal" involving one of the teams at the end of December (Peyton/HGH), is pretty damn interesting.

Vegas made a lot of money off this game. To me, it isn't so far fetched to think some aspects of the NFL are fixed. It's happened in the NBA, and currently FIFA and the ATP are under fire for match fixing.

I also find it odd that the NFL is the only pro sport which lists itself as "entertainment". The same listing as the WWE...

Was the Super Bowl fixed?

Jerry does make a good point about leaving St. Louis twice. And in the long run bailing on Oakland and San Diego makes way more sense. Now the raiders are royally fugged the only appealing city to jump to is Las Vegas and the NFL won't have it. Man I would love Las Vegas Raiders.

I think Jerry has foresight the other owners do not. They voted the easy way. Let Kroenke and his money build in LA. Its a fast food stadium. Super sized and all. But is it healthy for the league? The Chargers and Raiders needed to move more. I also think there are a number of owners right now that are weak and ego driven. They don't understand how the league was built and how to keep it strong. They are more concerned with themselves.

Maybe he didn't want his kids to ruin his NFL franchise. I don't pretend to know the inner workings of the organization or Richardson, but IMO an owner like Jerry Jones is business above anything else. Our Jerry seems to care a little more about character when it comes to who plays for the Panthers, so I'd have to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yep.

to me, Jerry seemed to be in the camp supporting the owner who had always put the league first and whose project promoted traditional football and that experience for the fans.

I read it that Jerry wanted to reward an owner who was a loyal servant to the NFL, like him, and that he didn't want to set a precedent for turning down a ton of public money. Public money is how he helped finance the BoA upgrades. He doesn't want that cash faucet welded shut when it's time for more upgrades to BoA or a new stadium.

He's a great owner for the Panthers and I thank him for bringing the NFL to the Carolinas, but he's just a self serving as the rest of them. You don't get to his position without being so.

I agree, I think 99% of us would do the same thing in that scenario.

I think the Raiders in San Antonio is an appealing jump. No?

It would basically require the collusion of every owner in the NFL to pull off, including that of losing teams like the Browns.

So no, not really.

We lost the game.  Was it poorly officiated?  Like pretty much every game this past season, yes.  The league is in desperate need of improvement in that department, and I'm pretty sure having full time officials is the only real answer.

But was there some conspiracy? No, and people make themselves look really silly when they go down that road.

    • Per Bill Barnwell  Broncos part ways with a CB on the roster bubble Broncos get: 2026 seventh-round pick Panthers get: CB Damarri Mathis The Broncos have a rare problem among NFL teams: too many cornerbacks. ESPN's Jeff Legwold projects they could move on from Mathis, who was very good as a rookie in 2022 before losing his starting job after the defense's slow start in 2023. He played just 27 defensive snaps after Week 6 that season and 80 more across 10 games in 2024. With the Broncos using their 2025 first-round pick on cornerback Jahdae Barron, they could justify moving on from Mathis, who might not be active on game days even if he sticks around. Mathis' best season came with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in Denver, and he hasn't been able to reach those same heights since Evero left for Carolina. The Panthers are set with Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson and nickel corner Chau Smith-Wade as their three starting corners, but Mathis could push the 28-year-old Jackson and serve as Carolina's primary reserve on the outside. Mathis is owed $3.4 million in 2025, so Denver might essentially buy a draft pick by eating some of that cash, similar to what the Commanders did when they sent running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the 49ers.
    • They can get fuged for a 6th and 7th. Doesn't make sense for us for anything less than a 4th and them paying a majority of his salary.
