The 30th pick of the 1st round is reached and LB Reggie Ragland is still available

Do you take him?

If I told you Ezekiel Elliot is off the board.  The top-rated OTs, DTs, and DE's are off the board.  Do you take him?

He can play OLB as well as ILB.  He's one of the best players in this draft (expected to be taken in the top half of the 1st round).  Do you take him?

Or do you reach deeper for "need"?

I think BPA Method says that you take him.

(P.S. This question arose because I faced this exact situation on Fanspeak.  And, yes, this is *extremely* hypothetical because there is little chance Ragland would ever fall to 30.  And, yes, I took him.)

I think if a highly sought after guy is there at 30 and we have no need at all for him, trading back could be a good option.  Seems like there would be ample suitors if he is that good

No way.  Luke is signed until 2022.  IF they think Sua Cravens is CLEARLY BPA, OK.  But NO natural MLB.

If all the top OTs, DEs, and DTs were off the board id take one of the corners/safeties/receivers that fell for that scenario to happen.

No. BPA is true but not 100% literal. We're not taking a QB in the first round just as we aren't taking a MLB in the first round. Every other position is in play though.

There really isn't one top rated player on our boards (or most team's for that matter).  Players are typically placed into a group with other players the team rates at a similar level (think early 1st group, mid 1st group, and a group of players rated as late 1st value).  It's why we always seem to take a player at a position of need while still claiming to use BPA. 

It's also why we traded up for Funchess last year.  Most of the players in our highest rated group left were flying off the board to start the 2nd, and Gettleman either had to trade up or be willing to take a player in a lesser group.
