For Manning, that could very well be next season, if he plays.

Come on bruh, we gotta be serious now. Posters that have been on the Huddle less than a year don't like jokes. We have to be better than that and like all the other MBs on the net.

The old bag o' bones wants to keep playing per Adam Schefter.

More power to him, but I think it's kinda sad. I would have never believed that Peyton Manning was a guy that would keep playing after everyone and their mama has literally seen his skills diminish. The juxtaposition from then until now is too obvious.

Schefty is reallllllly tight with Denver- bet he is hearing from them that Manning wants another year and Denver is way too smart to role with Manning at the helm for another year.

Manning nearly threw away that Superbowl, poo we should have had a pick six on the first drive. Go back and watch there were so many ducks that we nearly picked and housed and a bunch of tipped balls that hit the ground.

I dont get it, even when he's playing like garbage he still won the SB, in 10/15 years time nobody will remember how bad he was and just remember he went out on top, why would you want to ruin that for the sake of one more year?

Unless he doesn't want his last performance, or last season, to be one which people remember him being terrible?

He might have got his ring, but some people's egos won't let them retire unless they are happy with how their career would end if that was their last game. From a purely individual standpoint, Peyton's last season and last game won't be remembered for what he did, but will be remembered for how good that Denver team was to win without quality QB play. Thus, maybe he wants to comeback and play and have another big year? It might be unrealistic, but some people's egos won't accept that.

The other reason he might want to continue is he simply loves the game and isn't ready to call it a day. After all, in sports you spend a long time retired. He retires at 40, lives to 85, that's a long time to spend wondering if you had one more run in you. Maybe that's what he thinks, keep playing until he physically can no longer player or doesn't have the desire to play.

Everyone can see that he's a shadow of what he once was, but I think it would go a long way with helping people understand if he just came out and said, "guys, I get it! I just really like to play football."

I think then we'd all go, okay, cool. I'm fine with that. It's almost like people just want him to know that he isn't very good anymore. I think he knows. I think he just really doesn't want to quit playing the game that's been such a big part of his life for so long. He might be like those people that work hard all of their lives and then drop dead a week after they retire. Playing just might be everything to him.

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
    • very helpful.  I read back in this thread where they might try Jarvis at C--I thought he and Aho had good chemistry, however.  Nonetheless, he could expand his value there, and now we have a guy who can play jarvis' spot.  Freddie is a pro, no doubt--and as little as I know about the inner workings of strategy and positions, I could tell Burns was burning us at times.  I figured he'd retire and I was looking forward to it.  FWIW, they have Jarvis listed as a C on the 2025-26 roster.
