Regarding the difference of perception in general between him and Wilson. I think it boils down to stereotypes, some people just can't cope with an outspoken quarterback who also happens to be black as opposed to an aw shucks type perceived as humble which makes some white people much more comfortable.

To a degree, yes, the old saying "winning cures all" does sometimes apply, but even after an MVP season, Newton is still receiving very petty disdain for frivolous reasons.

Did you see his post Superbowl press conference .... people went nuts over the words, attitude, and the look.  But I suppose if I've got to explain it .... just google and image.   For me personally, it was the first thing that jumped off the page, but that's me.

We all saw it, personally I didn't care about the press conference then, and I still don't. I want a guy who absolutely hates losing. He was exceedingly classy post game with Manning, and that's all that matters at the end of the day.

Unfortunately, if spending even a few minutes reading the Panthers Facebook page will show you anything, it's that there are many many many dumb people in this world who can't stand him no matter what for various reasons.
