During his five months with the Carolina Panthers, defensive end Jared Allen continually raved about the chemistry inside the locker room. He could have just been saying all the right things, of course.

But two weeks after he rode off into retirement, Allen assured that what he said in his short time in Carolina was what he saw.

"I was humbled this last year being on a team that embraced literally ever cliché you could possibly think of," Allen admitted on NFL Network's Total Access Thursday.

"That place is literally a walking cliché. I got in there and was like, this can't be real. It's like a mirage, and no one knows about it? This is cool, ... There's zero drama. Zero. I mean, I've never been on a team where there's zero locker room drama at all."

Allen, who spent his first 11 seasons with the Chiefs, Vikings and Bears, credited Carolina's veterans for producing that type of atmosphere. But he saved his biggest praise for the tone-setter at the top.

"It's all because coach (Ron) Rivera has set this culture that it is a player-run locker room, but that stems from the head coach," Allen said. "He's in there, he knows the problems, he's up to date, nothing's getting by him. He addresses things honestly

Dang.

He was only with the team for 5 months, and he's only been retired for 2 weeks or so, but I already miss this cowboy.  What a great addition he was to our 2015 team, if only for the reason that I got to follow and better "know" a player I'd only ever just heard about.  Such a great guy.  Happy Trails Jared.

Make him an assistant DL coach or something, he was amazing during his prime years.

He's going to spend the rest of his days fishing and hunting out in the middle of nowhere. No chance he has any interest in being a coach.

I wouldn't go as far as saying there is no chance as the post above seems to indicate, but it doesn't seem like he is interested in coaching right now.  He might get bored eventually and start doing something though.  I would think that broadcasting might be more his style than coaching.

He would make for an awesome commentator!

It was great having Jared Allen play his last season here, I'm glad we got him to a Super Bowl

I used to hate the guy bc he was such a fuging baller in Minny but once he came here, I realized how likable he was

Probably being a Panthers player helped too but he's a good dude, glad I saw the big homie play
