Panther's selections:

PICK

30

Emmanuel Ogbah - DE, Oklahoma State

The strong and hard-working Ogbah would be a nice complement to Kony Ealy on the Panthers' defensive line, even with the return of Charles Johnson.

62. Carolina Panthers: Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn

93. Carolina Panthers: Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor

129. Carolina Panthers: Kevin Byard, S, Middle Tennessee State

I'd be happy with the picks above.

Other NFC South selections...

Atlanta - 17. Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State, 50. Cody Whitehair, OG, Kansas State, 81. Scooby Wright, ILB, Arizona, 115. Tevin Carter, S, Utah  (I hope the Falcan't draft doesn't work out this well, because those first 3 selections are beastly.)

New Orleans - 12. Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor, 47. Deion Jones, OLB, LSU, 78. Charles Tapper, DE, Oklahoma, 112. Connor McGovern, OG, Missouri (Billings is a player. The other 3? Meh.)

Tampa Bay - 9. Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson, 39. William Jackson III, CB, Houston, 74. Sean Davis, CB/S, Maryland, 108. Malcolm Mitchell, WR, Georgia (Those first 2 picks are top notch.)

We can probably do better in the second round. Coleman is a great story but he seems a little old to me for an early pick. But what do I know

I'm admittedly biased, but you can't teach athleticism and mobility at the OT position.  And Coleman has that in spades.

You CAN teach, however, technique (which he would need coming out of Malzahn's HUNH offense.)

And admittedly you'd like to get'em as young as Trai Turner.  But there's also something to be said about getting a guy with a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree who has maturity having already gone through life's wars.

But age obviously isn't a high consideration for Nippleshorts anyway IMO.  If so, he wouldn't have picked Cameron Artis-Payne last year.  If he likes a players athleticism, ability, and projected future, he'll pick him.

True but I would argue Payne, because of his age, was good selection for the 5th round. It doesn't exclude talent because Benjamin and Star were up there in age too (I think Short was too). Coleman in the 2nd seems like a high pick unless he's going to walk in and be an immediate starter and I don't think he would be.
