No it does not. That is their Top 51 number only. Their Top 51 + rookie pool is at -4,146,681

I'm citing this source for my info. It's in the far right column showing all the permutations of the cap the Saints are fighting right now. The 1,205,509 cap space you say accounts for the rookie pool actually is only counting the Top 51, as I said.

the word that was inadvertently omitted from my post was "think".  Basically, it should have said "I think you'll find".  In any case, they can make space to sign their picks with minimal effort.

And as I explained in my rebuttal, they need to either make cuts or re-structure some players. Re-read it for why it will be difficult. I'm not typing it again.

Thank you Gettleman..

THANK YOU

hes taught me what real cap managment looks like. Now incompetant cap managment from other teams sticks out like a sore thumb

Now please don't take this the wrong way. But...It really is more than a little amazing that anything could penetrate that haze of alcohol around you. So if Gman can make an impression on you. That truly is note-worthy.

You now have a new weapon in your arsenal. Wield it well my friend. Always remember. With great power, comes great responsibility.

To be fair. When you are a perennial loser. The off-season is where the enthusiasm comes. At least the team is trying to improve. Your heart will fool your head into believing things are looking good. That washed up FA will come in and have a great year. Things have to get better? Right?

It is great for the Panthers to finally have a football guy in charge. And a top shelf talent evaluator to boot. The hardest part for panther fans for the foreseeable future is not becoming ass-hats, by gloating over our success.

What if we were already asshats?

It will not be difficult. I don't have to re-read it to disagree.

Look at the projected 2017 cap space. It's $75M. That doesn't include Drew Brees who will take up a significant portion of that whenever he gets a new deal, but they aren't in nearly as much trouble as everyone thinks in the long term.

I mean they'll extend Brees this year to get under, so that $10 million they'll save this year has to go somewhere. So I figure baseline $20 million a year for Brees without the extra from extending this year, $10-12 million for Armstead, $7-8 million for Vaccaro and $8 million for Unger. Knowing Loomis they'll heavily backload giving them $50 million in 2017 and they'll go spending. All the while they depend on the arm of Brees not giving out otherwise their strategy of pouring all resources into the current season fails.

don't think that figure includes the 10 mill or so they'll spend signing their draft picks from 16 and 17, but 40 mill ain't bad.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
